I am a Queen.
I have been since my sixth day of life,
I have sat on a throne and held my head high.
A devout Catholic I have been,
yet imprisoned by Protestantism
locked up tight in their towers.
mayhaps all criminals of the law,
have never been to as many prisons as I.
I, who am a Queen.
A hundred plans of freedom lost,
A hundred plans full of failure.
All their purpose was
To place me back a throne.
Many lives lost, to free me from capture,
Perhaps many more I have slain.
But still my hopes of ruling again
Shall never leave my veins.
For I am a Queen,
I, Mary, Queen of Scots.
~~~by Erika ~~~~~~Queen Mary of Scots was crowned queen of Scotland before she was a week old. But because of the major religion crisis then between Protestants and Catholics the Scotish annuled her rule. She was then imprisoned in many prisons for many years(and I mean many!) Later she was executed for a planned assasination against Queen Elizabeth I. ~I wrote this poem from what her point of view in her imprisonment.
