As A Breeder
Although right now I don't have a large number of snakes to work with. As time progresses I hope to aquire more and more of the rarest color phases found in Copperheads. And anyone of you who knows their Copperheads knows that they are EXTREMELY rare. Even though my major goal is to find and reproduce different color morphs. This will not detract from the quality of my more common colored projects.
Another reason I wish to breed Copperheads is to help create enough quality captive bred stock. So that wild collecting will no longer be a necessity. Or at least as great of one. I understand that there will always be that occasional rare beauty that just can't be left to get away. In fact that is how a lot of my breeding stock will have to be acquired. Until a sufficient number has been bred in captivity to all but eliminate the need for wild caught specimens.
An example would be Cornsnakes. There are so many wonderful healthy and beautiful captive bred Cornsnakes that there is really no need to take one from the wild. Noone would buy it. Unless it was a melanistic one or something.
So overall my goals are to create the finest quality Copperheads. And to help conserve their natural populations through my efforts.
