Play Examples

The choices you have in the mahjong tables are shown in this example.

Discard: Once you draw a tile from the wall you must either play and then discard or keep it and discard another tile.

Pass: If you do not have the option of playing the tile you must pass on it. If you don't it can slow down the game.

Draw: If it is your turn in play you can draw a tile from the wall. This option can be taken away from you if the tile discarded is ponged/konged by another player. If that happens, your turn is skipped, rotation starts again from that player. Rotations of play are always counterclockwise.

The Chow

A Chow is a run of 3 consecutive tiles of one suit. They can come up for play in any of three choices on the play board depending on the draw of the tile and what you already have in your hand.

The Pong

APong is three of a kind in any one suit.

The Kong

A Kong is four of a kind in any one suit. When this choice is played, you will receive another tile from the wall.

And finally but not least The Mahjong

In three fan or better, there are many ways of getting a mahjong, BUT, you must have 3 or more fans. What makes a fan you say??? Well, I will do my darndest to help you understand what makes a fan in the next section :)
