General Information / History
This competition began in early 2003 as a showcase for gyms in the Northwest corridor. In that year, the senior team from Cascade Locks (with the likes of Soleil Star, Tabitha Dennehy and Erin Novick) easily defeated teams from Cougar Falls (with Olympian Dawn Losmer and World Team Captain Meghan Kincannon), Cal Winds (led by Dawn Cooper and Krista Magellen) and Coast Capers (Courtney Laumann ended up winning the All Around). The junior team struggled, finishing in third behind Coast Capers and Varosse Academy.
In 2004, the competition was held again with many of the same teams returning to compete. Some new additions were also present, including Olympic Gold (this year's host). This time, both the senior and junior teams from Cascade Locks handily defeated their opponents.
While this year's meet will not be limited to the gyms in the immediate area, there is no question that all the gyms who have participated in the past view this as a prestigious meet. The gyms of the Portland, Oregon area are planning to host a small training camp/get together on the 17th. Stay tuned for details.
Format
In previous years, one round of competition decided all of the medal winners. This year, the team and all around competition will be held on day one and event finals will be held on day two. The team format is 4-4-3. This is a qualifier to the American and US Classics meets.
