A Mother's Blessing
Of all the special joys in life,
The big ones and the small,
A mother's love and tenderness
Is the greatest of them all.
Only One Mother
By George Cooper
Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky.
Hundreds of shells on the shore together.
Hundreds of birds that go singing by.
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather.
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees to greet the clover.
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn.
But only one mother the whole world over.
Mothers Were Once Daughters
Every Home should have a daughter
for there's nothing like a daughter
Tt keep the world around her
in one continuos whirl......
From the moment she arrives on earth
and on through Womanhood,
a daughter is a female
who is seldom understood....
One minute she is laughing,
the next she starts to cry,
man just can't understand her
and there's just no use to try....
She is soft and sweet and cuddly,
but she's also wise and smart,
she is a wondrous combination
of a mind and brain and heart....
And even in her baby days,
she's just a born coquette,
and everything she really wants,
she manages to get...
And even at a tender age,
she uses all her wiles,
and she can melt the hardest heart,
with the sunshine of her smiles....
Magic Mommy Kisses
Each night I tuck you into bed,
I brush my hand across your head,
and in each tiny little fist
I place a magic mommy kiss.
Full of love and hope so bright
To keep you safely through the night,
Mommy kisses in your hand
To guide you off to slumberland.
If you should dream of monsters mean
Or witches with faces masked in green,
Of snakes that squeeze you oh-so-tight
Or darkness with no sign of light.
When nightmares hold you stiff with fear
A part of mommy still is near.
Just open up your hand and blow
One mommy kiss and nightmares go.
Her Little Shadows
By Barbara Burrow
I saw a young mother with eyes full of laughter
And two little shadows came following after.
Wherever she moved, they were always right there;
Holding on to her skirts, hanging on to her chair,
Before her, behind her; an adhesive pair.
"Don't you ever get weary, as day by day,
Your two little tagalongs get in your way?"
She smiled as she shook her pretty young head,
And I'll always remember the words that she said:
"It's good to have shadows that run when you run
That laugh when you're happy and hum when you hum-
For you only have shadows
When your life's full of sun."
