The two of them enjoyed each other’s company a great deal and Koloth asked Zarina to be his mate which she accepted. Unfortunately 20 years after their marriage he was removed as attache, and he and his first born were sent to the front lines to fight in the Sonov wars. He watched his son’s Bird Of Prey explode just before the Treaty was signed. After the Peace Treaty was signed he was given his first command the IKV Bat'ah. Zarina returned to Betazed taking her 3 children with her. However on his 17th birthday her son Kang left Betazed and joined his father’s house and attended the Military Academy on Klinzhai. 

He did not travel alone. His sister went with him. They left the youngest sister Firestorm with their mother. Zarina did not want to be left behind so she applied to be an Ambassador for Betazed on the Klingon home world. Koloth was delighted to have them all back. His happiness was short-lived however when his youngest daughter joined a mercenary group when she was 15 years old and disappeared off the home world.

It took him years to find her. Whereby she had been involved with 38 skirmishes, 4 off-world wars, and 89 suspected gun-running deals. By the time he caught up with her, she captained her own Unit.

After she was caught by her father, he told her he was sending her to Starfleet. Her mother intervened and first sent her to the Vulcan Science Academy whereby she excelled in Xenobiology and Genetics. After the two years there she joined Stafleet Academy. She graduated StarFleet Academy with honors.

Trained to be a specialist in Tactical security. Collected her first reprimand for borrowing a shuttlecraft to go off-world. She was AWOL for 2 days. No explanations. Collected her 2nd reprimand 2 weeks later for attempting to simulate the Picard Maneuver. Nearly killing herself and 2 fellow crew members. Passed the Kobiyashi Maru test by default as she chose to ignore the SOS call and instead sent in a shuttlecraft to investigate the problem thereby not endangering her ship or crew. Her answer was that it was better to lose 2 crewmen than 600.

Earned her first commendation for rescuing 7 cadets after their shuttlecraft crashed on a training course. Her last reprimand was due to a fight instigated by a friend and fellow crewmember whilst they were guests on board the Vulcan Science vessel on a training course. Her second commendations she received Starfleets  Star and Cluster for bravery above and beyond the call of duty when she prevented an attack by an Orion vessel on colonists whilst off-world on leave.
