The earlier bands were just pure underground, a lot of vibe going, and a lot of piss ups. Kali was just me and a couple of my mates from London playing really raw Bathory-esque black metal but spending more time in the pub than in the studio was our forte back then-hahah! Graven Image was more on the Epic doom side of things; I formed it with England's answer to Candlemass in mind,...but saying that there was a band in Yorkshire called Solstice who wanted the same crown...which brings me on to Solstice, the first band I'd joined with a record deal. I played on the debut album 'Lamentations' and EP 'Halcyon'. How long can you survive playing in COF? I think the question should be how long can Cradle Of Filth survive playing with me? No honestly, I think I've got a good while to go yet before I die of drink/drugs but we have been known to have a good party of two now and then (sly wink) or as the Kurgan says "it's better to burn out than to fade away". Left School at 16 and started work straight away,(needed to see the world etc) but ended up doing shitty jobs, and found my forte in music when I started playing with that Electric guitar I got for my 15th Birthday and turned to the metal world for release and sanctuary Ive been playing and gigging since 1992. My first band was called "Kali" and that was just raw, played really sloppy thrash/blackmetal (kind of Bathoryesque "Under the Sign" era) then after that adventure onwards to ..."Graven Image" and that was a more downtuned affair and alot slower in the maybe of vein of "Candlemass", "Trouble","Stillborn" etc ....then in Winter 1993 I joined "Solstice" which was another "Epic" Doom kind of band. I recorded 2 Cds with them, "Lamentation" LP 1994, then the "Halcyon" E.P in 1995. I left Solstice shortly after te E.P was recorded, as I was planning on doing a degree in Medieaval history, when I turned up at a C.O.F gig one night in Bradford,Yorkshire and basically met up with them after the gig and offered my musical services like a whore, I joined after that obviously since then Ive been "Filthed" up to my eyeballs in this bizarre troupe of cunts, and its been a great band to be a part of.
