Memory Lane -seems 1997 was just yesterday- doesn't it? |

For those fans that have been in it since the beginning, it seems like May of 1997 was just, well yesterday. They always say that time flies when you're having fun, and just looking at the picture above, they are right. Time really does fly right by. I have so many 'Hanson Memories.' Sometimes it's just really fun to sit back and think about the 1997 Hanson. They are a lot different from the 2000-2001 Hanson. It's kinda weird. It's almost like we have seen them grow up and that we have grown up with us. (it's a little corny, I know but for the fans that have been there since '97 they know what I'm talking about) We are almost going on a 'growing up' experience with them. Especially those of us that are close in age with them. And that's the most amazing thing about Hanson, I believe that they will grow with their fans. With all of the fans that are willing to go and grow up with them. A lot of bands don't have this quality, of changing with the times and with the fans, but Hanson does. (along with other very important qualities) Anyways, I like to blab- here are some of my favorite Hanson memories from around 1997-1998. It's always nice to take a walk down memory lane once in a while....because it does seem just like yesterday. -Well, the obvious memory, my very first concert whatsoever was a Hanson concert! September 8, 1998. (there's a long story about how I got the tickets, but I won't bore you...one day when I have some time I'll write up the review) It was amazing. Yes, it was raining, it was outside, and I was in the lawn (uncovered section), but it was still my favorite memory. Having a Hanson concert be your first ever concert is wonderful. -Yet another obvious, the very first time I heard 'Mmmbop' thanks to VH1 one day in May. -The Grammy appreance. No, I wasn't there or anything but I taped it, and I was just so happy that they were nominated. So what if they didn't win an award, they still rocked. -Zac, the zany side. Any memory of him cracking a joke or doing a crazy face is in my book for sure. I look back and he was SO young, SO funny, just SO adorable and such an 11-year-old. -The day 3 Car Garage came out. I was totally broke and I remember it was in the spring and I really wanted the CD so bad. In the end my mom took me out and bought it for me...for no good reason. It was sweet of her. -The MTV Live Grammy edition when Zac jumped into Carson's lap. It was so funny.... -The 1998 World Series when Hanson sang the National Anthem (Florida Marlins VS Cleveland Indians.) They did such a wonderful job. Plus, that was the year my boys, the Cleveland Indians, were in the World Series! So that made it even better. But, it would have been better if they would have sang at a Cleveland game instead of one in Florida! -When Hanson hosted MTV's '....And The Nominees Are' for the VMA's in 1997. I crack up every time I watch it. First when they are talking about 'busting a move' and then when Zac breaks the Moon Man! (if you have seen it you know what exactly I'm talking about) -When I got in a fight with a girl down the street because she said that Hanson lip-synced. I was young and I don't even think I knew the full out meaning of 'lip-syncing' but I knew it was bad. We got into a fight and I stomped home with steam coming out of my ears. -For about 2 years some of my closest friends called me 'Mmmbop.' We all had little nicknames we called each other, to define our personality (kind of inside jokes between all of us) and well, 'Mmmbop' just stuck I guess. -The first time I told one of my close friends that I liked Hanson. (in 1997) She just kinda looked at me and then said...'But, Lainey! They have longer hair than you!' -So teenbopperish, I know, but my best friend and I would fight over the phone about who was cuter. I liked Taylor and she liked Zac. (no...I am not proud of that and I'm not like that anymore! Just thought I'd clear that up) |
