Trip to Tulsa
my short trip to Hanson's homeland
Tulsa.  The beloved home of those three talented boys that make up Hanson.  I swear for some reason every Hanson fan I have ever talked to yearns to go to Tulsa.  I’m not sure why.  Probably, just because Hanson always talks about how much they love it.  Hanson seriously put Tulsa on the map.  Before Hanson came out, if someone would have asked me where Tulsa was, I would have had no idea.  But, now thanks to Hanson, I am a little bit smarter.  The summer of 1999 was great.  And in August I would be going to California with my Grandma.  I couldn’t wait.  When we got our tickets and the sheet that had our layovers, I seriously freaked out.  On the way to California one of our many layovers was in Tulsa!  I couldn’t believe my luck.  Better yet, we would be picking people up!

The day of our flight I couldn’t wait until the stop to Tulsa.  I just couldn’t sit still.  Sure, I was only going to be in the airport, but it was the main airport.  An airport I’m sure Hanson has been to.  When we finally started seeing the big circles below us I knew we were almost there.  When we landed in Tulsa it was HOT.  That’s the only way to explain the temperature.  So we got off the plane and went into the airport.  People of course were busseling around, but everyone seemed so nice and friendly.  We stopped and ate and did some other miscellaneous looking around.  When our flight was about to board again I seriously began to think that possibly, Hanson would be coming on our flight.  That would have been awesome.  Then I was kindly reminded by my Grandmother, that we were on the cheapest possible flight and airlines.  I’m sure Hanson wouldn’t be riding on NorthWest Airlines.

So, all in all, my dreams were busted.   And I barely have any memories of being in Tulsa since I was there for a whole hour and a half.  But, hey I was there.  I do have a pen that says TULSA on it though.  My very good friend went to Tulsa in 1997 to visit some family.  At the time she was a huge Hanson fan (along with me) so I was green with envy of her.  She brought me a pink pen back that had TULSA written on it.  But by 1999 it was out of ink and lost.

I should have bough a post card or something.  Oh, and next time I'm so going to the Blue Rose Cafe or Rex's Boneless Chicken.  I will be back!
