This is a list of the fanfic sites we couldn't live without. From great collections of fic to reference guides for fanfic writers, there is going to be something in this list for everyone! Now, in no particular order:

Ephemeral is an archive of the newest fanfiction to hit the scene. It give the reader a chance to recommend each story and has great searching capabilities. It's temporary - eventually moving its contents to Gossamer - so head over there for the latest releases!

The Gossamer Project is an enormous archive of fanfiction - just about anything you are looking for can be found there. Sorted, searchable, and user-friendly, it's the first place to stop on your search for a specific story.

The fanfic section of The Haven for the FBI's Most Unwanted is a great place to shop for a good story. They are very discriminating and you can pick a story at random from their recommendations and be assured it's a good one.

The MSR Library is another great place to browse - if you're a 'Shipper. We are decidedly 'Shippers, so the MSR Library is one of our favorite places. They collect the best of the relationship stories, whether they're rated G or rated NC-17.

If you prefer your sexual tension to be unresolved, the UST Archive is for you. From Mulder/Scully friendship to serious, tension-filled UST, they have just about everything.

Musea is a great site put together by some of the best fanfic writers out there. They recommend a few good stories every month and are well worth checking in on.

Xemplary is the archive of the stories posted on the X-Files Creative mailing list.

Chronicle X Lite is the part of Chronicle X that remains after the dissolution of that great site. It's an excellent resourse for Author's e-mail addresses and websites, as well as for tracking down that elusive story whose name and author you've forgotten.

The Spooky Awards are held every year and the archive contains some of the best fanfic written during the year. Check out the winners of the previous years' awards and you're sure to read something great.

Well, we had to get one great smut archive in here and Fred and Ginger's Smut Classics is it. These guys know what you like. At least, they know what *we* like! Although they're not updating the site anymore, there is more than enough smut to keep you busy for quite a while.

Deep Background is a site you won't be able to live without if you're a fanfic writer. Real life information on every facet of the X-Files, including the paranormal, medical matters, military, forensics and psychology. Also including not-so-real life information on The Dynamic Duo, including floorplans of their apartments and maps of their neighborhoods. Indispensible.

Another indispensible resource, Kipler's Elements of Phyle is a fanfic writer's guide. It has helpful hints about grammar, spelling, word usage, and punctuation that every writer should read before clicking that "Post" button.

Confused about what happened when? Well, the X-Files Timline is the perfect place to go. It tracks the series from the beginning, tying it all together (as well as can be done) and making it easy to review.

If you want to know the exact words spoken in a given episode, but don't want to wade through your tapes and watch, go to Inside The X for transcripts of every episode and for the movie.

These sites have recommended and archived our work. Please check them out - they obviously have great taste!
