Time is one of those intangible notions. We can’t touch it yet it flies out of our hands. Only when it’s gone do we realize its print on our lives, shaping what we then cherish as memories. When we glance back, it reveals the path we’ve taken.
Throughout time, people have tried to define Time. Historians divide it into periods and record it according to events and conflicts for future generations to remember, in the hope that past mistakes of times past will serve as lessons so as to not be repeated. Scientists measure Time in its lenght, examine its correlation with space, and calculate how it would compound with distance. Archeologists excavate the world for signs of ancient times, speculate on the age and meaning of cultural vestiges, and dig the earth searching for the original skeleton of life when Time was at its beginning. Sociologists study how a social fabric is quilted or torn out through Time, observe how societies evolve and groups that compose them interact in changing times, look at how ideas are formed and old beliefs are challenged with Time, and why there seems to be less time in Modern Times.
Time is of essence, but despite all efforts to grasp it, it eludes us. Perhaps its essence is the absolute certainty that it will always move forward. Time can’t be stopped even if it’s running out.
So what is Time if it’s not mind nor matter? Regardless, let’s not waste anymore time to find an answer that only Time will tell.
But we’ve seen that Time can be captured in some ways. And just as space has moved to the virtual world from the physical one, time, too, can move into this dimension. Hence, this virtual time capsule.
This website will serve to that purpose, recording my thoughts, life and other anecdotal nuggets, so that from time to time I can revisit the capsule and see how Time has paved its way.
This is a work in progress as you might have guessed. So any questions or suggestions to improve this capsule? Drop me a line...anytime. :-)
