The universe of Dragonball is a vast and very interesting one. With power wielding people and saiyans and aliens and animal people galore. Most people do not like Dragonball and it's various other incarnations. The say its simple plot lines and drag-on story lines make the series uninteresting and predictable. Despite these claims I enjoy Dragonball very much, while yes it's not the most complex anime out there its very fun to watch. Hey! At least it makes sense! However, I do agree with a lot of people that the original Dragonball series is the best, its more comical and story based. However don't get me wrong I love seeing the fights in Dragonball Z just as much as the next guy. And if you're basing your assumptions on the series from the dub, then you're 100% right about it. I'll talk about that later, though.

There are four basic areas of Dragonball Story:
| The original Dragonball |
| The now famous Dragonball Z |
| The disputed Dragonball GT |
| The various Movies |
| These four categories makeup the universe of Dragonball as well as flaws of the general timeline, or lack thereof. Most people discount the Movies (as they general do not even attempt to fit in with the television series) as being part of the general timeline of Dragonball, others go further to include GT as Dragonball creator, Akira Toriyama was not involved. These are the true purists. Other will even refuse to watch the Dragonball movies & GT, these are the extremist. The other two series are considered real Dragonball, mainly because they are based on the manga. |
