Sailor Moon Links
- Hitoshi Doi's Sailor Moon Page
For me, and for a hell of a lot of other people, Sailor Moon addiction
began with the discovery of Hitoshi Doi-sama's site. While it's not
complete, it does have more raw information about the series than any other
page, to my knowledge, and he was able to get a synopsis of the final episode
up within hours of its release. This will also get you to Doi's other
pages ...
- Other SM Episodes
... while this will get you to synopses for episodes that, for
whatever reasons, Doi-sama hasn't done, including the conclusion of Sailor Moon
S, probably some of the most dramatic Sailor Moon ever.
- The Heart of the Flames
What can I say about Nikki Purvis, aka Jet Wolf, that hasn't already been
said? She's smart, funny, and one of the hardest working otaku that I am
honored to know. Check out her excellent comic strip As If!.
Fanfiction Links
- Rec.arts.anime.creative Archive
Need I say more?
- Luna and Artemis Archive
Luna and Artemis have a very large, very comprehensive Sailor Moon
fanfiction archive. All my Sailor Moon stuff is here, in text format, and so
is a LOT of other people's work. Unfortunately, that's part of the problem ...
the site has accepted so many fanfics that it can be all but impossible to read
through them all and ... well, let's just say that Sturgeon's Law applies.
- The Fanfic Revolution
And, partly as a reaction to the foregoing situation, this extremely talented group
of authors came into being, in order to show that "fanfic doesn't have to suck."
Fair warning: The basis of the Revolution's doctrine includes a focus on hentai
or sexually-oriented stories, and there are a fair amount of them to be found on
this page.
- John Biles Page
All hail Bailesu! Bailesu all hail! John is the fanfic author.
Perhaps one day I will equal his talent, but I'm inclined to doubt it.
Visit, and look on in awe.
- Eyrie Productions, Unlimited
People have often said that my stories are of the "short and to the
point" variety. I can but agree with the assessment. These guys, however
... they write LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG suckers. But GOOOOOOODDDDD ones, too.
If you haven't read "Undocumented Features", you haven't read fanfic,
kids.
- FFML Fan Critiques
A page that contains reviews and criticism of various fanfics posted to
the Fanfic Mailing List. The reviews themselves are also pretty fun to
read. Unfortunately, this site was last updated sometime in the twentieth century.
- Fanfiction on the Net
Of course, not all fanfics (or even, come to think of it, most of
them) are about Japanese animation. Take a look at this fairly
comprehensive listing of the many different kinds of fanfic out there. This one also hasn't been updated in a while ...
Miscellaneous Anime Links
- Anime Web Turnpike
The anime site. Virtually every other anime-based site that I've
found is listed here. If it isn't working, something that doesn't happen very
often these days, try the European mirror site.
- Anime Marriage Prospects
This is a very intriguing look at the "eligibility" of various anime
characters, from Priss Asagiri to Cologne. It can also be very useful as an
introduction to the series from which these characters originate. (Notably,
I became intrigued by Neon Genesis Evangelion after reading the marriage
prospects of a certain NERV Captain.)
- Banzai Anime Klub of Alberta (BAKA)
I am a usually proud member of this association which truly lives up
to its name, sometimes. (Such as when they design a webpage that only
works on browsers with frames ...) Unless you are actually local to the
Edmonton area, this page will probably be utterly meaningless ...
Other Stuff That I'm Interested In Links
- Steve Jackson Games
I will gladly plead guilty to being a GURPS-aholic. (GURPS is the
Generic Universal Role-Playing System, BTW ... and it's probably the
system that I'd use to run a role-playing game based on my stories,
especially with the release of GURPS Mecha.) This page also has info on
the other games that the company releases ... none of which interest me,
but your tastes may vary.
- Movie Database Search
The Internet Movie Database Search, one of the most impressive
examples of how the Internet can be used for research purposes that have
relevance to an average person. (It's not just for geeks like me, in
other words ...)
- Lurker's Guide To Babylon 5
This is the site for the Babylon 5 fan. And if you're not a
Babylon 5 fan, you're missing out on one of the great stories of the
nineties, and will be kicking yourself in a few years, when it becomes the
biggest thing since Star Trek.
- Xena: Warrior Princess
Probably the most comprehensive source of information on this
incredible series from MCA. What can I say? I love a good story, and
this is definitely a great story, one of the last of the "rollicking
yarns".
- Tony's Online Tips
This daily column by Tony Isabella, "America's Most Beloved Comic-Book
Writer and Columnist", covers a lot more than comic books -- although
there's plenty of commentary about them, too. It's one of my favorite
things to read, especially Mr. Isabella's occasional reviews of manga and
anime. Check it out.
- KINGDOM COME
Kingdom Come, by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, is quite possibly the
greatest comic book that I've ever read, with absolutely beautiful
(even in its moments of sheer horror) artwork and an incredibly engaging
story. This site contains virtually everything you could want to know
about the series, and many pieces of Mr. Ross' artwork as well.
- The Great RPG Archive
The most complete, accurate guide to role-playing game information on the
net that I've yet found. If you're willing to do some surfing, you can probably
get to any other gaming site from this one.
- Sluggy Freelance
This here is Pete Abram's comic. Is it not nifty? Worship the comic.
- Fans!
An intricate tale of the power and the madness that is fandom, and the single best-written, best-drawn, webcomic ever.
