A Vague Attempt at Chronology (1881-2080)

(Note:  This timeline incorporates aspects of the "Maison Ikkoku" timeline
included in the Maison Ikkoku Guide compiled by the Misery Loves Company.
.  There is another
Maison Ikkoku timeline, which sets the events of the series considerably
earlier.  Much information on the Wold Newton families and those
associated with them was provided by Win Eckert's "Wold Newton Crossover
Chronology", )

(Appreciation is owed to the creators of these series, of course -- Rumiko
Takahashi, Naoko Takeuchi, Suzuki Toshimichi, Kenichi Sonoda, Fujishima
Kosuke, Masami Yuuki, Hiroki Hayashi, Matsumoto Izumi, Yuu Watase, Hideaki
Anno, Monkey Punch, BePappas, Spider Robinson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,
Edgar Rice Burroughs, Lester Dent, Walter Gibson, Paul Ernst, Sax Rohmer,
Ian Fleming, H. Rider Haggard, and others -- and to the various fans
whose love of these series inspired the creation of the information
sources from which I baldfacedly stole most of my data. :)

(Needless to say, this is incomplete, and doubtless there are several
errors.  If you find them, let me know.)

(Lupin III notes:  I honestly have no idea when the original Arsene Lupin
stories are set -- from what I've been able to find out, during the late
1880s and 90s, since he apparently clashed with a thinly disguised
version of Sherlock Holmes -- and thus can't say whether or not its
feasible to have Lupin III born when he is.  (Right now the answer is "Yes
... if both Lupin and Lupin II were dirty old men.  Which is probably
rather likely.")  [Lupin II only appears in a single episode of the Lupin
III TV series, but I suspect that he was also known as the master thief
Fantomas.]  The date I use means that Lupin III's comments of being a
"young guy" in the film "Die Nostradamus" (set in 1999) are rather
facetious, since he'll be 48.  It's derived from his self-description as a
"young punk" when he first tried to buglarize Castle Cagliostro, a bit
more than ten years before that movie takes place (in 1979).  [Sidenote:
Happosai was in his cave when that came out -- how in the world did he
manage to rip it off in "Big Trouble in Nekonron China"?  I can understand
him being a fan of the original manga, which is pretty damn raunchy ...]  
Last note:  I strongly suspect that the McNichol family is descended from
Lupin, one of the coachmen at Wold Newton, based on the physical
resemblance between Arsene Lupin III and Leon McNichol.)

1881	*Sherlock Holmes (b. 1854) begins lodging with Dr. John Hamish 
	Watson (b. 1852), who has been invalided home from India.
	*Kamiya Ryu, first child of Kamiya Kaoru (b. 1862) and Himura
	Kenshin (b. 1849) (and eventual ancestor of Saotome Ranma) is
	born.

1884	*Patricia Clarke Wildman (b. 1859) dies of a fever; her son, James
	Clarke Wildman (b. 1878) is taken in by his father, William Clayton
	(b. 1836), the younger brother of the Fifth Duke of Greystoke.
	(Patricia refused to marry Clayton because of a scandal in her
	family the year before their son was born, involving her father's
	necromantic studies and eventual death.)
1885	*Allan Quatermain (b. 1819) is reported dead in the depths of
	South Africa, but the truth of this report is uncertain.
1886
1887	*John H. Watson and his associate Arthur Conan Doyle publish the
	first of their collaborative efforts describing a case
	investigated by Sherlock Holmes which occurred six years before
	("A Study in Scarlet")
	*Vlad Dracula comes to England from Transylvania, but is forced to
	leave the country by Johnathan Harker (b. 1862), Abraham van
	Helsing (b. 1844), and associates (with unacknowledged assistance
	from Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson).  Dracula allows his
	hunters to believe him slain, but escapes final death.
1888	*Jack the Ripper terrorizes London's East End.  The killer is
	never caught, despite the fact that Sherlock Holmes and Professor
	James Moriarty (the Napoleon of Crime) are forced to cooperate in
	this case.
	*Theodore Brooks is born.
	*Quincy Abraham Henry John Arthur Harker, son of Dracula, the
	future Vampire Hunter D, is born.
	*John Clayton II (b. 1862) and his new bride Alice (nee 
	Rutherford, b. 1868) sail from Dover for Freetown. The Claytons
	are stranded in the jungle of French Equatorial Africa (Gabon) by
	mutineers.  There, in a cabin built by Clayton, John Clayton III,
	the future "Lord Greystoke," is born. (Nov 22)
1889	*Andrew Mayfair is born to Blodgett Mayfair and his wife Melissa
	(nee Rutherford) daughter of Dr. George Edward Rutherford (who
	was called Challenger in A. Conan Doyle's fictionalized accounts 
	of him.)
	*Alice Clayton dies.  Kerchak kills John Clayton II. Kala adopts
	the human infant and names him Tarzan (White Skin). (Nov 22)
	*The Fifth Duke of Greystoke, John Clayton I (b. 1835), is
	murdered. With his only son missing and presumed dead, the title
	of the Duke of Greystoke passes to his younger brother, William
	Clayton.
1890	*Jane Porter born in Baltimore, Maryland. (Jan 1)
1891	*Sherlock Holmes and Professor James Moriarty have their "final
	conflict"; Moriarty manages to deceive Holmes as to his fate.
	Holmes allows John H. Watson to believe him to be dead, and begins
	his world travels.  He meets Irene Adler for the second time, and
	a relationship develops.
	*While researching a vampire story in the British Museum, Bram
	Stoker makes the acquaintance of Dr. Abraham van Helsing, and is
	persuaded to use the accounts of the Doctor and his associates of
	their battle with Dracula as material in his story.  (Stoker is
	responsible for the falsification of Quincy Harker's birthdate.)
1892	*Hugh Drummond is born.
1893	*Alexander Clarke Wildman (b. 1867) goes to Canada to escape the
	family stigma caused by his father's involvement in black magic.
	He also drops Clarke from his surname.
1894	*Holmes returns to England.
	*Richard Wentworth is born to Phillipa Delagardie and John Byron
	Wentworth (called John Roxton in A. Conan Doyle's fictionalized
	accounts of him).
	*Sir Bruce Clarke Wildman (b. 1860) succeeds in his experiments
	in time travel, and his life from this point becomes very
	non-linear.  For more information, see "Who Else Sailor Pluto
	Really Hates".  
1895	*H.G. Wells writes a novel about Sir Bruce Clarke Wildman, which
	causes Pluto even more headaches by introducing the idea of time
	travel to the world.
	*Phillipa Delagardie leaves John Wentworth and goes to America,
	where she marries Ralph Rassendyll (a cousin of Richard
	Rassendyll).
1896	*Twin brothers Kent Allard Rassendyll and Bruce Gordon Rassendyll
	are born to Rhoda Delagardie and Ralph Rassendyll.
	*The Alephae discover Earth, and engage in an intensive study of
	the North American continent, beginning in California.
1897	*Dracula, the novel by Bram Stoker, is published.  It contians a
	great deal of fiction, in addition to the accounts of the
	principals.
1898	*Tarzan first enters his parents' cabin;  he kills a mad gorilla
	with his father's hunting knife. Soon after, he begins to teach
	himself to read and write English.
	*John Drummond is born.
1899	*Sherlock Holmes is retained by Mabel Tolkein to recover a family
	heirloom, later known as the Red Book of the Westmarch.  He steals
	it back from Sailor Pluto, much to her consternation.
1900	*A "Gathering of Palladins" occurs in Japan.  Very little has ever
	been revealed about it.
1901	*Tarzan kills his foster father, Tublat, with his father's knife.
	*Himura Kenshin dies of wounds inflicted in a final sword fight.
	*James Clarke Wildman and his wife Arronaxe (nee Land) flee
	England after his plot to kidnap his younger half-brother, William
	Cecil Clayton, goes disastrously wrong due to the intervention of
	Sherlock Holmes.  James Clarke Wildman Jr born on board the
	schooner Orion, anchored off the coast of Andros Island. (Dec 12)
1902	*Arronaxe Wildman drowns when the the Orion is driven onto a reef 
	by a storm, and sinks. (Feb)

1906	*Tarzan can read and understand almost all the books in his
	father's library.  Mbonga's people (cannibals) establish a village
	near the territory of Kerchak's tribe.  Kulonga, Mbonga's son,
	kills Kala.  Tarzan kills and eats Kulonga.
	*Paris is startled and terrified by a series of seemingly
	impossible homicides and thefts, which are traced to the
	machinations of an Asian master criminal called Hanoi Shan.
1906
1907	*Richard Benson is born to John Benson and Isis Fogg (neice of
	Phileas Fogg.)
1908	*Tarzan kills Kerchak and becomes "king" of the great apes.
	*An unnamed Russian psychic (related both to Grigori Efimovich
	Rasputin and Dr. Mikahil Andropov (Michel Andro)) undergoes what
	might have been called the Akira effect in Tunguska, Siberia.
1909	*Tarzan abdicates the "kingship".  A month later, he sees his first
	whites -- the Clayton-Porter party, stranded by mutineers.
	Rescuing the various members of this expedition from their
	troubles brings him into contact with Jane Porter.  Tarzan also
	makes the acquaintance of Lieutenant Paul d'Arnot of the French
	navy, and they aid each other in returning to France.  Tarzan
	heads to America to reunite with Jane, but on discovering that he
	is the heir to the house of Greystoke, does the noble thing and
	denies it -- as Jane is to marry his cousin, whom he thusly does
	not wish to disinheirit.
	*The Alephae continue their surveillance in Europe.
1910	*Tarzan returns to Africa (after spending several months in Paris)
	and becomes chief of the Waziri after leading them to defeat Arab 
	slavers.  Subsequently, he discovers the lost city of Opar (and
	its high priestess, La), but escapes and is reunited with Jane
	(who has not married William).  Following William's death from
	illness, Tarzan marries her, returning to England to claim his
	inheiritance. (Accounts vary as to whether or not he becomes the
	Eighth Duke of Greystoke, or poses as his cousin, the Seventh.)
1911	*The Asian master criminal known as Dr. Fu Manchu has his first
	battle with Dennis Nayland Smith and his associate Dr. Petrie.
1912	*While establishing a plantation in Kenya, Tarzan receives an
	immortality treatment from an ancient witch doctor.  Later that
	year, John Clayton IV is born (May 20)
	*The parents of Hugh and John Drummond are killed in an accident;
	John is adopted by the Claytons.
	*The first of Edgar Rice Burroughs' fictionalized accounts of
	Tarzan's life and adventures is published in All Story magazine,
	prompting Tarzan to seek out Burroughs and ask him a few intense
	questions.
1913	*John Drummond Clayton has a series of adventures in Africa that
	lead to him becoming known as Korak.
	*Emilio Lizardo born.
	*Tarzan searches for his adopted son, John Drummond (aka Korak). 
	He fails to find his son and returns to the plantation, meeting 
	Jane there.
1914	*Korak is discovered, as is his beloved, Meriem Jacot.
	*The Greystoke Plantation is destroyed and Jane kidnapped by German
	soldiers.  Tarzan declares war on the German army in Africa.
	*Patricia Wildman, second cousin to James Clarke Wildman, Jr., is
	born near Swift Current, Saskatchewan, to Alex Wildman and May
	Renfrew.
	*Twin sisters Eva and Maria Braun are born.
1915
1916	*Captain Kent Allard Rassendyll -- by now having dropped the
	Rassendyll -- of the Royal Air Force is assigned as a liason to
	the Czar of all the Russias.
1917	*Quincy Harker slays his first vampyre, but not before being told
	of his dampiric heritage.  This causes him to have a nervous
	breakdown.
1918 	*Masado Banzai born in Nagasaki.
	*While imprisoned in a German prison camp, James Clarke Wildman,
	Jr. meets Brigadier General Theodore "Ham" Brooks, Lieutenant
	Colonel Andrew "Monk" Mayfair, and others who will become his
	assistants in civillian life.  Clarke Wildman orchestrates their
	escape.
	*Bruce Rassendyll, alias G-8, returns home from the First World
	War and is promply institutionalized, as much because of the
	potential for him to leak top secret information as because of
	the very real psychological collapse he has undergone.
1919	*Tarzan is reunited with Jane.
	*Kent Allard assists Tsarovich Alexei Romanov in escaping from the
	Bolsheviks; he sends him to the care of an associate of his,
	Aethan DeGales.
	*Charles McNichol is born in Windsor, Ontario.
1920
1921 	*Sandra Willoughby (grand-daughter of Sir Bruce Clarke Wildman) 
	is born.
	*Constanzia Velejo is born in Madrid.
1922	*Katsuragi Mai is born in Peru.
1923
1924	*James Bond is born to Andrew and Monique Bond (nee Delacroix).

	City.  There is no evidence that he ever crosses paths with the
	Shadow, despite their similar methods of operation.
	*Alex Wildman is murdered by a fake werewolf; James Clarke 
	Wildman, Jr. is called in to investigate, and meets his cousin
	Patricia for the first time.
	*Henry Ralston secures permission from James Clarke Wildman, Jr.
	to begin publishing fictionalized accounts of his adventures, and
	hires Lester Dent to be the chief writer of "Doc Savage magazine".
1933	*Aethan Degales emigrates to North America.  After a tour of the
	continent, he meets with Marisol Vasquez and transforms her into a
	vampyre, to be a companion for himself.
1934	*Patricia Wildman moves to New York.
1935 	*Toichi Hikita and Masado Banzai start working together in
       	Japan.
	*James Clarke Wildman Jr. and his associate first cross paths with
	the Shadow and his organization.  Strangely, the story of this
	encounter is never published by either of their biographers.
1936	*Andrew and Monique Bond are killed in an avalanche, orphaning
	James Bond.
	*While fighting in the Spanish Civil War, self-described
	"adventurer" Charles McNichol meets Katsuragi Mai and her friend
	Constanzia Velejo.
	*Kamiya Kaoru is asked by Saionji Kinmochi, last of the elder
	statesmen of the Meiji period, to serve as a courier for those who
	covertly seek to protect the Meiji settlement from encroachment
	by the military.  She readily accepts.
1937 	*Masado Banzai and Toichi Hikita invited to Texas by Edward
       	McKay Willoughy, and meet his daughter Sandra; Masado goes back to 
	Japan after a month; Hikita stays in the United States.
	*Mano Chiaki is born.
	*Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan disappear over the Pacific -- as
	planned, in order to become agents for the Shadow.
1938	*A criminal conspiracy costs the life of Richard Benson's wife and
	daughter, and the shock effects a strange metamorphosis on him --
	bleaching his hair and skin of all colour, but rendering it
	incredibly malleable.  Benson embarks on a crusade against
	law-breakers, with the help of several assistants, collectively
	known as Justice Inc.
	*Mano Madoka is born.
	*Pilot Cliff Secord discovers a rocket pack invented by James
	Clarke Wildman, Jr. and begins to use it to occasionally fight
	crime.
 	*Toichi Hikita and Emilio Lizardo create first Overthruster at
       	Princeton.  It has the disastrous side-effect of alerting the Red
	Lectroids to the existence of Earth.
	*Orson Welles broadcasts "War of the Worlds" depicting an invasion
	of Earth by aliens at Grovers Mill, New Jersey.  By an astounding
	coincidence, a group of extradimensionals arrive in Grover's Mill,
	New Jersey, that very day. (Oct 31)
	*The Shadow allies with Justice Inc. to battle his arch-nemesis,
	Shiwan Khan.
1939	*John Clayton (Tarzan) joins the RAF, and is assigned to fly
	bombers.
	*Andrea DelaFontaine is born in Florence, Italy.
1940 	*Sandra Willoughby goes to Nagasaki, where she meets Masado Banzai
	again.
	*Richard Benson's face is restored to normal, but he continues to
	operate Justice Inc.
1941 	*Masado Banzai and Sandra Willoughby flee Japan after Masado's
	connection to the Kishin Corps becomes known to the Japanese
	secret police.
	*Zenigata Heishi is born.
1942
1943 	*Masado Banzai fights against Hanoi Shan (by now better known to
	Western ears as Dr. Fu Manchu) in Burma.
1944
1945	*Aethan DeGales witnesses the poisoning of Franklin Delano
	Roosevelt shortly before the Yalta Conference.
	*The Kishin Corps launches a massive strike against the main
	fortress of the German mecha project, Rugen Island.  The Kanto
	Army is completely annihilated.
1946 	*Masado Banzai and Sandra Willoughby finally arrive in America;
	they join forces with Toichi Hikita and Sir Godwin Lloyd-Jones.
	*An atomic weapon is detonated on Bikini Atoll, awakening the
	Sleeper Beneath the Pacific, also known as Gojira. (Jul 1)
	*Kenneth Clarke Wildman is born. (Jul 1)
	*James Bond, having earned the rank of Commander in the Royal
	Navy, is employed by M.I.6.
	*Gojira attacks a recovering Tokyo, compounding the damage, before
	being driven off by a suicidal gambit by Dr. Serizawa Daisuke.  A
	campaign of misinformation keeps this event under wraps for the
	most part.  However, the need to keep a large number of Westerners
	who witnessed the monster's rampage "under wraps" begins the
	establishment of "The Jyuban Project" to resettle them in Minato
	ward, with false Japanese names.
	*Callahan's Bar opens on Long Island, New York.
1947	*The Campbell sighting (Jun 21) and the Roswell discovery.
	*The Planetary Defense Force is created.  Several of its initial
	agents are veterans of the Kishin Active Defense Corps, and (after
	James Clarke Wildman, Jr. declines the post) Richard Benson is
	given the post of the Director.
	*The man who will become known as Jigen Daisuke is born in
	Chicago.
1948	*Kamiya Kaoru passes away in her sleep.
	*Ishigawa Goemon is born.
	*James Clarke Wildman Jr.'s final adventure, against a group of
	demons operating in caverns beneath Maine.  The first encounter
	forms the basis for the final "Doc Savage" story, while the second
	costs the lives of several of Clarke Wildman's assistants,
	prompting him to retire from active adventuring.
1949 	*Masado Banzai and Sandra Willoughby married.
	*Jessica Drummond is born. (Oct 31)
	*Dmitra Poulis is born.
1950 	*Otonashi Souichiro is born.
	*Kasuga Akemi is born.
	*James Clarke Wildman II weds Patricia Wildman in a small, private
	ceremony.
	*James Bond is given a license to kill from M.I.6, and the agent

	*In his last documented operation, the Shadow implants a post-
	hypnotic suggestion in Joseph McCarthy's mind that there are
	subversives in the Army, leading to McCarthy's downfall.

	*Mano Chiaki and Mano Madoka have a duel to determine which of
	them should take up the responsibility of being the 107th demon
	hunter of their family.  Madoka wins, but Chiaki refuses to accept
	the victory as valid.
	*Dwight D. Eisenhower vists Edwards Air Force Base to examine the
	remains of the Roswell probe, being studied by the PDF.
1955 	*Masado and Sandra Banzai die in jet car explosion, along with
       	driver George Campbell.
	*Bran Mason is born in Belfast.
	*Kamiya Nodoka, future mother of Saotome Ranma, is born.
	*Ikuko McNichol, future mother of Serena Tsukino, is born.  Her
	mother (Katsuragi Mai) and father (Charles McNichol) are veterans
	of the Kishin Active Defense Corps.
	*Aethan DeGales and Marisol Vasquez have a parting of ways after
	she summons the ghost of James Dean to be her familiar spirit.
1956	*Kent Allard is recruited to give Kenneth Clarke Wildman (his
	namesake) education in the use of telepathy.
1957	*Miyaki Rumiko, future mother of the Tendou sisters, is born. (Oct
	10)
1958	*Meaghan McNichol is born in Scotland.
1959	*James Clarke Wildman, Jr. disappears on a mission in the
	Antarctic.  Patricia marries financier Kenneth Masefield, in order
	to provide for herself and her son (the Clarke Wildman fortune
	having been almost completely used up.)  Kent (her son) adopts the
	Masefield name.
	*While a student at MIT, Andrea (Andrew) DelaFontaine reads a
	first edition of Robert A. Heinlein's "Starship Troopers", and is
	inspired to start work on the design and construction of a suit of
	powered armor.
	*Chigusa Kyoko is born. (Dec 8)
1960
1961	*Godai Yuusaku is born. (Mar 15)
	*Mano Sayoko is born to Mano Madoka and her husband.  Shortly
	therafter, Madoka's estranged sister seduces and murders her
	brother-in-law, in order to have a child who will be a rival to
	Madoka's daughter.
1962	*Quincy Masada is born, if his birth certificate is to be
	believed.
	*Eva Braun is killed in an automobile accident, leaving behind
	several children.
1963	*Kent Masefield travels to Japan, becoming a student of the Kasuga
	family of ESPers.  He is introduced to Kasuga Akemi, and a casual
	relationship begins to develop.
	*As fall-out from the Kennedy assassination, PDF Director Richard
	Benson is forced to step down.  Takamura Taishi is elevated into
	his position, and the PDF's investigation into purely human crime
	and conspiracy is halted, with jurisdiction over them given to the
	newly formed Network for Command of Law Enforcement.
1964	*Asagiri Toshio is born, last child of Constanzia Velejo and
	Asagiri Suzuki.  His mother dies in childbirth.
1965
1966	*Kent Masefield has his first encounter with Gojira.
1967	*Isamu Ohta is born.
	*Rokubungi Gendou is born. (Apr 29)
	*Akagi Naoko is born.
	*According to her birth certificate, Susan Mei'ou is born. (Oct )
	*Kent Masefield, Sr., dies in an automobile accident, deeding his
	property to his wife and stepson.
1968	*Yamazaki Hiromi is born.
	*Gordon DelaFontaine persuades his older brother to let him be the
	test pilot for his most recent prototype of powered armor.  His
	crime-fighting antics cause the brothers to be discovered by the
	Planetary Defense Force, who recruit both of them.
	*Arsene Lupin III attempts to get a quick reputation by
	burglarizing Castle Cagliostro, and fails.
1969	*The individual who will be known variously as "the Bean Bandit"

1992	*Earth's greatest adventure begins as Serena Tsukino becomes the
	Bishojou Senshi Sailor Moon (Jul).  Her comrades, Sailor Mercury

	are soon joined by Sailor V, who adopts the name Sailor Venus. 
	They are victorious over the Dark Kingdom, but the battle results

	Forces.  Kunou Tatewaki and Kasuga Akane are killed, as are
	others.  Patience Masefield, daughter of Patricia Delafontaine 
	and Kent Masefield is born.  Kent Masefield vanishes beyond the

	*Tenjou Utena begins attending Ohtori Academy, and becomes

	consequence, a certain princess is freed from a curse to which
	she has been subjected for nearly twelve thousand years.  Utena
	vanishes immediately afterwards, and her memory fades from that of
	almost all who knew her.
	*The Tenchi family is cast back in time to the Silver Millenium,
	where they become involved in the Martian-Jovian war.
	*First commercial ground-to-orbit spacecraft launched, by Genom.
1999	*The Second Unit of the SV2 Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan
	Police is formed under the command of Goto Kiichi.  Isamu Ohta,
	Yamazaki Hiromi, Shinshi Mikiyasu, and Shinohara Asuma are
	assigned to the newly formed unit, while Izumi Noa volunteers.
	*The first phase of "the Final War" begins, as Hong Kong and
	Taiwan attempt to assert their independence from the mainland
	Chinese government, followed soon after by end of the ceasefire
	between North and South Korea.
	*Saotome Ryu, first child of Akane and Ranma, is born, named for

	vanish without explanation.

2003	*Tokyo is scudded by North Korea in a provacatory gesture.
	Numerous targets throughout the city are hit, most notably the
	Tendou Dojo.  Tendou Souun, Tendou Hinako, Tendou Kasumi, Ono
	Tofuu, and Saotome Nodoka are all apparently killed, while Saotome
	Genma is incapacitated.  (Elsewhere in the confusion, Mano Sayoko
	is also fatally wounded.)
 	*Soon after, Ourrannos arrives on Earth, and seeks out Sailor
	Moon.  In the battle that follows, Serena undergoes a final
	transformation to Serenity, and Sailor Uranus and Neptune are
	killed.  Ourranos is defeated.  Darien transforms to Endymion

	*The birth of Serenity prompts the Almighty to withdraw all other
	divinities from Earth.  (Most of the Hells reluctantly agree to

	essentially causing anyone with more than seventy per cent of
	their body replaced by cybernetics to be treated as a machine
	under the law.  Caroline Evers and Billy Fanward are killed on
	different occasions as a result of this law.
	*Linna's parents are killed by a "runaway boomer".  She briefly
	lives with her grandparents in Maison Ikkoku.
2028	*Masaki Noboyuki dies under circumstances which cause his son a
	great deal of embarassment, and which lead to the banning of Bu-
	33S class boomers.
	*Godai Yuusaku and wife Kyouko die within moments of each other;
	Godai keeps his promise.
2029    *The Polar War between China (with allied forces from Argentina) 
        and Neo-NATO begins.
2030	*The former "Bean Bandit" dies immediately after dictating his
	memoirs.
	*Kasuga Kyousuke dies in his sleep, of apparent natural causes.
	He is survived by his five children.
2031	*Priscilla Asagiri, Linna Yamazaki, and Nene Romanova are
	recruited by Sylia Stingray to form the Knight Sabres.
    	*The exploration ship Galileo II is launched for Jupiter.
	*Nakajima Ken dies of a heart attack.
2032	*Nakajima Natsumi finds employment as a private investigator (and
	occasional operative for the Crystal Tokyo Society) in California.
	*The Knight Sabres complete the mission for which they were
	created, when Sylia Stingray kills Brian J. Mason, murderer of her

2033	*Largo, the "Boomer Messiah", destroys Genom's towers in Sydney,
	Berlin, and Chicago, sending the corporation reeling for nearly a
	year.
2034	*Aethan Degales initiates Nene Romanova into the arts of magick,
	before being destroyed.
	*Largo returns, and attempts to destroy MegaTokyo's fusion power
	plant.  He is stopped, and destroyed completely, by the Knight
	Sabres.
	*Priss Asagiri begins to recover her past, with the assistance of
	Nakajima Miyuki, shortly before the latter dies of a stroke.
	*The SDPC relocates its headquarters to Moonbase, increasingly 
        being called Luna City.
2035	*Senator John Connors (R, Cal) visits MegaTokyo on a state visit,
	and hires the Knight Sabres as additional security due to his
	outspoken anti-boomer (and subtly anti-Genom) stance.  A confusing
	sequence of events involving multiple potential timelines occurs.
2036	*"Senshi" Saotome weds Hibiki Sho, a distant cousin to Hibiki 
	Ryouga, after he beats her in combat, despite (or rather because
	of) her parents' best efforts to talk her out of it.
2037	*Katherine Madigan directs a brief attempt at a hostile take-over
	of Shinohara Heavy Industries, which proves to be a harder target
	than expected.  During the conflict, Madigan is compelled to hire
	the Knight Sabres (through several layers of interference) as part
	of her overall strategy; Sylia Stingray and Nene Romanova
	determine who their actual employer is, and manage to use Madigan
	as a mole inside Genom for several months.
2038	*Yoriko McNichol dies in an appartment fire.

2041	*Quincy's condition begins an irreversible decline, and he elects
	to destroy life on Earth before he dies.  The Sailor Senshi
	mobilize their allies against him.  The SV2's Second Unit is
	reunited, and suffer heavy casualties fairly early on in the
	struggle that ensues -- Kumagami Takeo, Isamu Ohta, Shinshi 
	Mikiyasu, and Shinohara Shinobu are killed, while Shinohara Asuma
	is rescued by his time travelling wife.  Nene Romanova is
	apparently killed in the Knight Sabres' last stand.  Ultimately, a
	nuclear weapon is detonated in the heart of Genom Tower, allegedly
	by Sylia Stingray.  Most of MegaTokyo's downtown district is wiped
	out in the blast, and countless people are killed.
	*The deaths of most of the heads of corporate Genom deals a death
	blow to the megacorporation.  Several factions actually manage to
	prosper, including the newly formed Conseption Corporation,
	composed of several Genom biotech firms.  Genom's space assets are
	immediately divided up by the other members of the SDPC, in a move
	that leaves them open to a takeover by the Crystal Tokyo Society,
	which immediately begins to orient the corporation towards
	colonization instead of exploitation.
	*Katsuragi Kei is born to Katsuragi Ryuji and his wife, Misa.

2043	*Graviton City is built near Olympus Mons, on Mars -- ostensibly
	as the first step towards colonization, but actually to provide an
	early defense system against possible alien invasion.  Excavation
	of the Cydonian pyramids begins, under security unseen since the
	discovery of the ruins of the Moon Kingdom.

2045    *So-called "Nomad" settlements begin to be established in the 
        asteroid belt.

2047    *Several ex-Genom corporations, Weyland-Yutani at their forefront, 
	begin a crash program to terraform Venus, dubbed Project: New

	*Hibiki Gen is born to Hibiki Sho and "Senshi" Saotome, their

	*Shinohara Noa, heart-broken over the "death" of her husband,
	finally passes away.  Her genetic code has been preserved by the
	Sailor Senshi.

2049	*A space capsule is discovered passing through Martian orbit, and
	recovered shortly before its arrival in Earthspace by SDPC
	investigators.  It proves to contain a computer chip which
	contains the sum total of the scientific knowledge and entire
	history of the Solnoid race, which is determined to have been
	extinct for over 300,000 years.  (It also contains the personality
	and "mind" of the android known as Catty.)
2050	*The true purpose of the Cydonian pyramids on Mars is revealed, as
	explorers complete a spell begun at the very end of the Silver
	Millenium.  Roughly 100 years worth of terraforming is 
	accomplished in minutes, restoring breathable atmosphere to the
	planet.  The "instant" terraformation of Mars is a major blow to
	the corporations involved in Project: New Earth, but the huge
	sums already invested in it ensure that it is kept on track.
	*Working from plans contained on the Solnoid probe, a slightly
	derranged SDPC scientist constructs a "Catty" android, and
	downloads the backup of Catty's memories and personality enigrams
	into the new body.

2053	*Catty is rescued from her life of sex slavery by the Sailor
	Senshi, and assists them in understanding the Solnoid technology.
2054	*Mercury begins a relationship with Hibiki Ryouga while he is
	assisting her in researching "Methods of Immortality", and he
	persuades her to conduct an experiment combining mermaid's flesh
	and braintaping, with himself as the subject.
	*Empress Funaho of Jurai is found dead of uncertain causes; her
	body is lying on her "sister-wife" Misaki's grave.
2055	*A plague breaks out in a corporate enclave on Ganymede, killing
	all but one of those present.  Hibiki Ryouga makes it back to
	Earth in time to have Mercury conduct the second half of their
	experiment.  While it is a success, the results alienate them from
	each other.
	*Mizuno Ryouko is born. (Aug 8).

2057	*Nakajima Natsumi is killed in action as an agent of the Crystal
	Tokyo Society; per her request, she is not cloned.
2058	*Nicholas Romanova dies of a heart attack.
2059    *The United Nations headquarters is relocated from Geneva to

        bombings, including the one that claims the life of Saotome 
        Akane.  The various corporate and governmental bodies which "own" 
        the Martian colonies attempt to tighten their grip on them.
	*While recovering from injuries sustained in the explosion which
	killed his wife, Saotome Ranma and Kuonji Ukyou slowly begin a
	relationship.
	*Kasuga Wataru, grandson of Kasuga Hikaru and Saotome Ryu, is
	born.
	*Katsuragi Kei is apparently killed in a military exercise,
	leaving behind a pregnant girlfriend.
2063    *After several months of intense fighting, the Martian Coalition 
        wrests its freedom from Earth's control (Mar 15), and promptly 
        disintegrates into dozens of warring principalities (Apr 1).
	*Leon McNichol dies in a high speed pursuit.
2064    *The first colonists arrive on Venus, including every single 
        employee of the corporations involved in Project: New Earth.
2065    *The First Budokai is fought in China (Dec).  Saotome Ranma is 
        smuggled back to Earth by the Sailor Senshi to fight as their 
        agent.  Despite an early defeat by his long time adversary Tarou
	(who murders "Senshi" Saotome) he comes back to defeat both the
	daemonic sponsors of the event.
2066    *Kuonji Gennosuke is born (Jan 16).
        *Shampoo of the Joketsuzoku arranges for Kuonji Ukyou to fight her 
        great grandmother Cologne, a battle Ukyou does not survive.  
        Ranma Saotome returns to Mars a day later, and in a fury battles 
        Cologne to the death.

2068    *The Venerian colony declares itself independant of Earth.
	*Urawa Ritsuko has a nervous breakdown, and after delivering her
	mother an ultimatum in regards to her parenting skills, enters
	coldsleep to wait for the creation of Crystal Tokyo.

2071	*Mizuno Ryouko leaves home, swearing never to return.  She finds a
	job working as a exoskeletal cargo handler within a few weeks.

	co-pilot.  Linna dies shortly after the ship comes out of warp
	near Alpha Centauri.

2078   	*The Nanoclysm.  The "Nodachi" virus, originating from the
	megacomputer of a Manila-based biotech firm, infects the vast
	majority of the Third Generation boomers (those built using the
	information on the Sigma Narses probe) and sends them on a
	genocidal attack on the human race.  With the assistance of the
	Galaxy Police -- who take heavy casualties, including the death of
	Commissioner Mihoshi Kuramitsu -- the Sailor Senshi coordinate the
	evacuation of Earth's orbital habitats and the asteroid belt
	shortly before nuclear war breaks out.  Eight billion humans die
	over the next two years, and Earth's fragile ecology is tipped
	over the edge into nuclear winter.
2079	*The Galactic Union places a quarantine on the Inner Sol System,
	enforced by the Galaxy Police Battleship "Mihoshi" and Tsunami.
	With access to space travel restricted, and no possibility of
	escaping the planet, the Nodachi-boomers elect to commit mass
	suicide rather than surrender to the Galaxy Police.
	*The Sailor Senshi begin their efforts to heal the planet's
	wounds, hindered by the daemon-kind that have invaded, taking
	advantage of the injuries to Earth's biosphere.
	*Count Magnus Lee, a vampyre elder claiming descent from Vlad
	Tepes, conquers most of Eastern Europe in conjunction with a
	conspiracy of other vampyres. 
2080	*The Diaspora.  Over two hundred million Earth born humans,
	believing that their world has been wrecked beyond repair, begin
	to spread out over the Galaxy, founding the worlds that will, a
	generation later, transform the Galactic Union into the United
	Galactica.


	"In two hundred years, we went from a world where the sun never
set on a single empire, to a world where the sun never rose anywhere.  In
two hundred years, we went from a world that was still not fully explored,
to one that had been lost.  In two hundred years, humanity itself changed

(End notes:  There are still a few blanks to be filled in, pending a
reexamination of "Kishin Corps" and my viewing of "Moldiver".  But I am
(momentarily) satisfied with this version of the 1881-2080 timeline.  I 
might want to include more information about how Gojira relates to the film
version -- 99% of the movies are fictional, but there's that annoying 1% 
... also, Gojira may be making an appearance in 1998, in San Francisco.)

(The next section of the timeline, covering the Dark Ages (2080-2780,
roughly), will be a lot more fragmentary -- literally, there were long
swaths of time where *nothing* happened that is relevant to the storyline
I'm creating.  Still, it will cover "Vampire Hunter D", "Gunnm", and "The
Dirty Pair" (ow!), expanding on the brief history of United Gallactica's
collapse given by Yuri in Together Again:  2937 Chapter (and naturally,
its rise.)  Also, there'll probably be information about what the rest of
the Solar System was up to during the period, including those guys at
Weyland-Yutani.  If you've read the trailer for "The Gunbuster Affair",
you've probably got an idea ...)
