Christopher is playing Spring Baseball on the Padres. This is his first year and they use a pitching machine for this age. The team has practiced several times at the batting cages pre-season.. The Padres' first game was a tough match, but they pulled off a win. Christopher got a hit & made it to first base, but was called out because either he didn't touch the base or ran past it .. anyway, it was a nice hit. The second game ended in a tie; it was back and forth until the very end. Christopher didn't get to base, but took some very good swings & got a piece of the ball several times. He was responsible for the last out of the other team, picking up a grounder near second base and getting it to the second baseman in time for the out. The 3rd game was great because, although the Padres registered a loss by 1, Christopher got his first base hit! He hit a strong line drive to the outfield. Unfortunately, the batters after him didn't get on base, so he was stranded on first. |

The Padres' 4th game was a special game for Christopher; not only did he get a hit & make it to first base, but in order make the base before the ball, he had to REALLY run! For his efforts, he received The Game Ball! The next game was great too; Christopher seems to be improving with every game. He got a single on the very first pitch. He made it all the way home for one of the 3 runs gained that inning. |

The Padres' 6th game was another good game for Christopher; he got another hit and ended up getting all the way home again!! Yea! He was much more involved in the outfield too. |
The Padres' 05/14 game was another good game for Christopher. The Padres were 1st up; the first 2 boys struck out, and it was up to Christopher. With 2 outs and a count of 2 and 2, Christopher hit a grounder straight to the 1st baseman, but Christopher ran very hard & didn't give up. I think Christopher's hard running right at the baseman distracted him & made him fumble the ball; it was that fumble that allowed Christopher to get on base. After that nice shot in the arm, the Padres got several more hits bringing Christopher home for the first run of the game! Yea, Christopher!! |

The Padres' 06/07 game was Christopher's best game! He was first in the line-up; the Padres were first up. A little nerve-wracking being the first hitter of the game, but he took a couple of swings, let a couple go through .. it was his last pitch .. and he nailed it! His teammates batted him home for the first run of the game!! He was in the outfield for an inning and pitcher another. He was very focussed and attentive; when the second baseman went for a ball, Christopher ran to cover second for the throw. On the last inning, Christopher was up again. He let the first two balls go through & then hit the third! The next hit went toward second base .. he had to slide to get there first & was called safe (phew!) The next player was called out, unfortunately, so Christopher wasn't able to make it home. Too bad. Really proud of him -- he really did great! |
