Well, it's way past the time when everyone started blogging, and here I am trying to catch up. Or not. Oh well..
Summertime in Boracay island
photo

So I was back in Boracay in May 2006, this time with Fran, one of my college roommates and long time, all-time favorite confidante. We took the first Cebu Pacific flight to Kalibo and then hopped on the shuttle for an hour and half ride to the jetty port in Caticlan. Then a porter sent by Fat Jimmy's met us at the jetty port and helped us with our knapsacks to the resort, which was at the heart of the bustling D'Mall area in Station 2.

Our room at Fat Willy's Resort was pretty, with two twin beds and a terrace. Although the place was non-beachfront, the resort had a homely feel to it, and the staff was very attentive and gracious with all our needs. We had welcome drinks-- mango shakes, my favorite, at the dining area and then were off to lunch at Jonah's for more milkshakes and delicious burgers.

Relaxing with your feet on the warm, white powdery sands and the sound of the waves is one of the best ways to enjoy a beautiful summer on this island. Fran and I had a great bonding time as we nibbled away at our food, and it was a good chance to also meet up with Rudy, one of my high school batchmates, whom I haven't seen since high school, and who's now one of the project engineers for a big resort being constructed in Station 1.

After lunch was a good time for some talipapa shopping. Then at sunset, we met up with Ryan, one more good friend of mine, who was with his sisters and their families for a weekend in Boracay too. Had drinks at Hey Jude and then it was time to get ready for dinner and drinks (and dancing for Fran and Ryan) in Club Paraw.

The next morning proved to be beautiful, as we started out with a hearty buffet breakfast at Fat Jimmy's. Then it was time to meet with some of Fran's new friends who were letting us join them to go boating and island hopping. Turns out the group was huge-- there were about 50 of us in the big boat, all of different nationalities and ages, and it was fun. We did some snorkeling near Crocodile Island and then went to Crystal Cove at Laurel island, then stopped by another island for grilled seafoods and meat for lunch. Finally, we went to Puka beach which I haven't visited before, and I'd say it was a lovely sight. The cool afternoon air and the beautiful sun helped us get great tans while having a good time at the beach.

Our paraw sailboat was waiting for us when we got back, and with Ryan and Rudy, we enjoyed the crisp, late afternoon sun with the wind and sea mist on our faces. This was the only time I had gone paraw sailing here in Boracay, and I'd say spending moments like these with good friends made this trip more memorable. Too bad we didn't get to watch the sunset while on the sailboat, but that's now been added to my to-do list for when I come back to the island.. haha..

Had a good massage just before dinner time, and then buffet at one of the many restuarants along the beach at Station 3. Went to Cocomangas with Rudy, and met up with Ryan and his sis, Angela for some late night drinks. Then finally dozed off...

On our last morning on the island, it was drizzling. We had to do some last-minute pasalubong shopping and just before getting back, we took a last peek at the beautiful stretch of white sands along the beach, and to our delight, the rainbow showed itself as it just stopped raining. It was a lovely sight to finish this trip with, and then we had to grab a quick bite and were back on the way home.

It's obvious that you love this island, & its really look like a nice place to spend the vacation. But can you tell me how the weather is on October, as I'm planning to take a vacation but I don’t know where to go.

Thank you & Best Regards…
