This is the response to the Unbound challenge this week. First and last lines provided - 1000 word limit. I'm just having a little fun here.

"Put it down and step away from it slowly," he warned. The little girl frowned and placed the sculpture back on the end table

Sara smirked and rolled her eyes. "She's just curious, Gris."

"Too curious. Do you know how much that thing costs?"

"Probably too much-it's ugly." She said as she wrapped her arms around from behind. "You're grouchy."

"Damn right I'm grouchy."

"Uncle Gil, I'm bored!" Came the girl's shout from the living room.

"Hold on, Lindsay." Grissom turned his head back towards Sara's ear, "This was our only night off this week. I missed you. I was kinda anticipating some extra-curricular activities this evening," he said, suggestively.

"Shh-she'll hear you."

"She can't hear me. Besides, she wouldn't know what I meant."

"I heard you." Both Grissom and Sara turned around to see Lindsay not two feet from them. "What did you mean?"

"Well, uh…what I meant was, uh…" Grissom stuttered.

"Don't hurt yourself, honey," Sara interrupted and turned her attention towards Lindsay. "What he meant was that…um…that we… OK, you know in school you have different activities or sports that you can participate in or clubs-"

"I'm in a club."

"Good, so you know what I mean." At Lindsay's nod she continued, "Well, your Uncle Gil is just a little upset that our activity had to be rescheduled."

"You can still do your activity, I won't be in the way."

"NO!" Grissom and Sara shouted at the same time.
Grissom tried to take control of this wayward conversation. "It's an exclusive activity-just the two of us and, uh, no one else can be here."

Sara leaned over and whispered in Grissom's ear, "Real smooth, Catherine is going to kill us."

"No, we're good, right Lindsay?"

"Yes. You and Sara were going to have private extra-curricular activities but you are going to have to do it later because I'm here."

The couple stared at the little girl in shock. "Yeah, Catherine is going to kill us."

Sara decided to change the subject. "So, Lindsay, you said that you were in a club?"

"The health club. We meet every Wednesday after school. I wanted to get into the computer club but that was full."

"I'm sure that the health club is just as fun. What are your meetings about?"

"Well, this week was about nutrition. We had to pick a fruit or vegetable from a list that Miss Lisa gave us and research it and teach it to the class. Pick one Uncle Gil – we learned them all."

"Rhubarb."

Lindsay scrunched her face at Grissom. "I don't know that one."

"OK. Umm, how about strawberries."

"Wow! That was the one I picked!"

"Great. Tell us - oh wise one - about strawberries."

Lindsay giggled and proceeded to fill them in on the history of a strawberry. "Did you know that over 53 percent of seven to nine year olds picked strawberries as their favorite fruit…Eight Strawberries will provide 140 percent of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C for kids…Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen in the spring…On average, there are 200 seeds in a strawberry…

Twenty minutes later with her head on Grissom's shoulder, Sara tried to hide her yawn while Lindsay droned on and on. "Ninety-four per cent of United States households consume strawberries…If all the strawberries produced in California in one year were laid berry to berry, they would go around the world 15 times…Lebanon, Oregon's annual strawberry festival is home to the world's largest strawberry shortcake…There is a museum in Belgium just for strawberries…"

She rolled her head over to look at Grissom and gave him her best glare. "Strawberries. Why did it have to be strawberries?" she groaned.

These are actual facts about strawberries taken from "Strawberries & More"
