Management Information System (MIS):

  1. Produces standardized reports in summarized structured form.
  2. Used to support middle managers.
     
  3. Uses databases to produce the following reports:
       
    1. Periodic Reports
      Produced at regular intervals - weekly, monthly, or quarterly, etc.
      Example: Combined monthly sales reports.
        
    2. Exception Reports
      Call attention to unusual events - sales report showing market fluctuations 
      Example: Low sales volume for a particular product.
         
    3. Demand Report
      Produced upon request - report on number ofjobs held by women and minorities
      Example: Number of jobs held by women and minorities (when requested by the government)
