Equipment: 

1 38litre rubber maid container

1 full length pen tube

2 half length pen tubes

1 200 cm long piece of 9.5mm inside diameter vinyl syphoning tube

1 6m long piece of string

1 binder ring or key ring to use as a pulley

1 rope pulley

1 paper clip hook

1 60 cm long piece of coat hanger wire

1 roll fo clear hockey sock tape

40 nails

1 elastic band

1 25cm diameter plastic plates

10 Dixie cups

Activity: 

  • To construct a water wheel

  • Use this wheel to lift a bundle of nails

  • Experiment to see how they can be used to increase the maximum laud (number of nails) that the wheel can lift

To construct a simple telegraph to motivate students to become interested in experimenting with electricity and electronics and  will investigate ways in which electrical energy can be transformed into other forms of energy, describe the relationship between electricity and magnetism.
