Nhulunbuy / Northern Territory
Nabalco Alumina Refinery

montage of photos from Gove

From 1991-'95
Possibily the best "live-in" mining town in Australia!
Nhulunbuy (or Gove), is in N/E Arnhem Land isolated and accessible by a 700 km dirt road 6 months of the year.
My wife and 4 boys lived and worked here in the Top End for 5 years and if it wasn't for a chance to work in Antarctica we would still be there.
Nabalco, is a Swiss owned Bauxite mine and Alumina refinery
Good money, Good housing, Great education for the children both socially and academically and great fishing and sailing.

Highlights
Home of the group "Yothu Yindi" (who were good friends of ours).
My wife who is a teacher, was teaching at the remote island 'Galiwinku", Fly in/out, week on / week off.
