Our first taste of isolation!
Where our # 4 son was born.
Pannawonica,
is aboriginal for dry, hot, dusty where no-one wants to live.
(only joking of course)
(a famous quote up there is: .."We're not tourists....we live here")
The town is there for one reason Iron-ore. Everone eats, works, sleeps, "iron ore".
The town has no old people, no letterboxes and no rain,
The town does have great parties, friends, drink, picnics and Pannawonica Hill
The mine is open-cut.
The drills, drill and blast iron ore from the Mesas(small plateau hills), the shovels load the haulpaks (180 tonne trucks) and 2km long trains for the 200km trip to the coast and off to Japan.
There is nothing fancy up there....just big.
