After completing the Fitness, Showman and Family Member pins for the Webelos rank, five boys have completed four more (Communicator, Artist, Naturalist and Scientist) to earn our Compass Patch which we received at the May 2000 Pack Meeting.
We are wrapping up Craftsman pin requirements.
Visited the Hayward Airport Control Tower and the East Bay Regional Park District's Helicopter hangar as part of our Scientist pin. We are planning our summer meetings, camping trips and Trail Trekker hikes.
We went on the Hoot Owl Trail Trekker Hike. We were able to hear and see several Barn Owls and heard a Screech Owl too.
We are working on our Craftsman pin and made two leather projects. We will be working with clay next.
We were presented with our Webelos Badge at the February Pack Meeting during a candle ceremony. We also changed our name from "Den 5" to the "SHARK PATROL".
The four newest members of the Den earned their Bobcat rank/badge at the January Pack Meeting.

Nineteen boys from Dens 5, 9, 10 and Tiger Cubs #2 and their families explored the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and the Marin Headlands on Sunday, February 6, 2000. The group completed the Rodeo Lagoon Trail Trekker Hike and visited the Nike Missile Base . We met Pack 42 from Novato who was also touring the Missile Base. Exploring the beach was exciting, with the boys finding numerous stones and pebbles of various colors. A few shorebirds were identified and several jellyfish uncovered.

Visited the San Lorenzo Library as part of the Webelos Communicator Activity Badge. We will be making terrariums for the Naturalist Badge.
Attended East Bay Regional Park District's program on soil at Coyote Hills Park in Fremont. The boys explored the soil and its inhabitants. Each boy brought home a wormery to study and fulfill part of the Naturalist Webelos pin requirement. It was great fun and very interesting!
