Hello! I heard about this church several weeks ago, but now I find you have
a website. I love seeing that the church actually lifts up the name of
Jesus.
I am a Curry, whose ancestors came from Greenfield. Is there anyone in your
church who pays attention to those kinds of things and might know something
about them? I am particularly trying to find out about William Curry and
Sarah Hambleton. My Currys went out to Kansas, but William Hiram Curry
went back to Greenfield or thereabouts. I think he was kind of a stinker.
Anyway, thanks for any help --- and I love your website.

It was really neat coming across this website. My grandfather's family attended Curry's Chapel many, many years ago and a lot of his people - the Stephens, Bennett, Barrett, Curry, Knight and Plummer families - are buried in the cemetery there. It's bee
15 years since we visited from Michigan, so it's great to be reacquainted and great to know the church is still so vital and caring and doing God's work. Thanks! Len

I would like to thank everyone for all of the love and support given to our family upon the death of my father. As I have mentioned, Dad loved Curry's Chapel and all the church family. He will be missed but has left us all a great legacy and alot of bea
tiful memories. I find great joy knowing that he is at rest, peace, and pain free. The Lord blessed me with 2 beautiful and loving parents and sister. Yes indeed, God is Good. Thank you.

TO THE PEOPLE OF GOD
My name is Patricia, and I have a story to tell you. I am a nursing aid, a few years ago I began a job at a home for the elderly in another state. Two days after that, I walked into Della’s room for the fist time. Little did I know what a profound affec
she would have on my life or for that matter, that she would forever change my direction in this life. Having witnessed the power of God’s love in her life, my heart was also made new. Della was eighty-five years old, both her leg’s had been amputated a
ove the knee. She was a tiny white haired lady, in a frilly little dress. She reminded me of a broken old doll thrown in the corner, and forgotten. Later, I was to learn that was exactly what she was, set aside, and forgotten.
Later that week, when I felt more comfortable in my new job, I asked Della’s nurse about her. She had come to live at the home five years earlier; at that time she had use of both her legs, and got around well with her walker. She had diabetes, which even
ually caused her to lose both her legs within that five years. In those first few years her daughter, her only visitor, came to see her weekly. Della began to eat and talk less, as her daughter’s visits became further apart. She began to refuse many of he
meals and she was losing weight she could not afford to lose.
Her nurse called and spoke to Della’s daughter about her mother’s depression and need for her in her life. For a month or so her daughter came every day to make sure she ate. She became strong again, ate, and talked to those around her. Then one day her d
ughter walked out the door and never came back again. Della stopped eating, and never spoke to anyone again. I believe Della stopped talking because she had nothing left to say to a world in which she had found no love. This little lady who had lost most
f the things you and I take for granted, who could not even stand and walk out of her room, only gave up when love walked out of her life. She was in the last stage of starvation when I walked into her room that first day.
After my talk with the nurse, with tears in my eyes, and God tugging at my heart I went into her room. I sat down beside her bed, took her hand, and began to tell her how much our God loved her. I did not have to speak for long because His love so flooded
that room I could no longer speak; all I could do was lower my head and cry. She glowed with his love from that day on, until she died in the arms of Christ two weeks later. As her spirit departed she left behind on this earth and in my heart the most bea
tiful smile I have ever seen. I will forever carry that smile in my heart to remind me that my God’s love never gives up.
Della died three years ago and every time I think of her my heart breaks, not for Della she is with the Lord. My heart is broken for His church. You see when I led her to the Lord I was far and away from the Lord in my heart. There was a church that come
o the dinning room of that home each Sunday to give a service. Week after week, month after month, year after year, as Della sat alone starving for love. She never went to those church services. Why did those church people not take God’s love into her roo
? Do you understand the awful truth? She literally starved to death because they did not.
I spoke to the leader of that Sunday service, about bringing the Word out of the dinning room and into the lives of those residents that did not come to church. I made it plain to him that I was not talking about small gifts presented on holidays, an occa
ional invitation to church. I told him he needed to go out on the floor, ask the aids, the nurses who needed their hands held. They know the poor ones that have lost everything in life that you and I hold dear. I hold him his church needed to become a par
of their lives, so the resident could see the love of God working. This man, of church, said yes, yes, and then did nothing.
I am now in a nursing home in Frederick, and see the same problem here. This town is full of churches, and still the elderly die alone in their rooms. I understand that part of the problem is that they are not cute and appealing like children. I understan
that they can be nasty and stubborn, I work with them every day! Make no mistake about this though, they are the Lords little children. I see no appealing commercials on TV about their neglected and abused lives. I hear no TV evangelist seeking money for
an outreach to them. Know this, they are also God’s little Lamb’s, He died for them, and He died so that you could take His love into their rooms.
I am reminded of that time after my beloved Lords crucifixion when he appeared to Peter and said “Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? The Lord asked Peter this three times! And three times when Peter said yes, Jesus said,“ Feed my sheep”! God has instruc
ed me to tell you Della’s story that you could see this mission field, and know that it is a harvest ready for reaping.
These people have come to the end of self; they have nothing left to depend on. Not the world, not their bodies, not their family, they only have those that love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul and mind. If this is you, somewhere in a home f
r the elderly Della is waiting for you.
“Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.”

Thanks so much to everyone for their love, support, many, many prayers and mountains of food. It has made it so much easier on my care givers (Bill, Nichole and Teri and Jim) when they haven't had to cook on top of everything else they have had to do. G
d has directed their hands to care for me so lovingly and I give him all the glory for even being here at all today. I continue to see a little improvement every day and every doctor's office visit is a little better than the one before. Please continue
your prayers for continued healing and continued tolerance until the healing process is complete. I love you all. Each and everyone of you holds a very special place in my heart. I miss seeing you all every Sunday but I will be there every Sunday that
can and I know it won't be long before I am able to be back on an ongoing basis. God bless you all.
