Lawrence James Curtin was born  in Swamspscott, Massacheusetts, USA  in June, 1935, the son of Theodore & Josephine Curtin.  A brother to Hugh Curtin  & Neal Curtin.

Larry passed away on Wednesday, 11th May 2005, at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, New Hampshire, USA.

He is survived by his wife Carole A. (Greaves) and children Michael, Matthew (& Sarah), Kelly  and Kathleen, and grandson Sean Curtin.
Larry and Carole settled in Chester, New Hampshire in 2001 after living for many years in Nashua, New Hampshire where Larry was a self-employed Home Builder.

Larry served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He grew up and was educated in Marblehead, Massachusetts.  He went to school at Chauncy Hall Prep. School in Boston, and later graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

In 1999 Larry was appointed as a Member of the Curtin Clan Association Board, and travelled to Ireland for 2 Clan Gatherings held there in 2001 and 2005.  He also attended 2 Gatherings held in the USA - in  Burlington MA in 1999 and in  Skaneateles, New York State in 2003.
In the 1820's, when Laurence Curtin married local girl Hanora Curtin and began farming in Beenaskehy, Mallow, Co Cork, Ireland he probably never dreamed that a grandson named Laurence would emigrate to the USA and that a  great-great grandson also named Lawrence would return to Ireland 180 years later and walk on the ancestral farm lands.

Larry was the 3rd in the family line to be given the name Laurence (Lawrence).
His great-great-grandfather Laurence Curtin was born before 1800 and married Hanora Curtin  in the early 1820's and raised a family at Beenaskehy.

A son named Timothy was born in 1832 and he in turn married Elizabeth Cremin.  Timothy  & Elizabeth in turn raised their family on the same lands and had a son Laurence Curtin in 1874.  He married Elizabeth Gainey and emigrated to Massachusetts in the USA where they  raised their family.
Laurence & Elizabeth Curtin raised their children in Lynn, in Massachusetts and one of their sons, Theodore Lawrence Curtin was born in Summerville  about 1903 and died in 1971.
Theodore Curtin married Josephine McManus and  had  3 sons, Hugh, Lawrence and Neal born in Swampscott.  They moved to Marblehead, MA about 1938.

The Curtin Clan Association  held its 4th Gathering in April 2005, in the  town of Mallow, Co. Cork.  This is the closest town to the village of Killavullen and townland of Beenaskehy where Larry's ancestors were from.  Larry enjoyed being in Ireland and attending this Gathering of Curtin's from around the world.
