Round Picture Frames from Gradients

lesson from the PSPUG.
I had a few problems with this tutorial, using PSP-9, but I finally figured it out. Instead of using a square background around the round frame I choose to make the the picture backgrounds invisible (.gifs). These are pictures of some crocus that I found poking up in my yard the other day (3-17-05) and a manipulation of a picture of one of my cats (Misty).
