Forces of the Empire Game History

Vala's parents were enslaved as was she by the Empire, and sent to labor in the usual horrible conditions. In Vala's case, Tatooine.

Eventually she and others managed to revolt when the estate was attacked by unknown forces. With little knowledge of the planet the little band set off as best they could. Before long they came under attack by Tusken raiders and lost several. Those remaining pressed onward only to stumble across Jabba's Palace where they were promptly thrown into cells again.

Their entertainment value kept some of them alive, the humanoid females at least and those able to fight. Fortuna eventually sold Vala to Karella the Hutt for her arena games.

Somehow yet to be determined Vala became a free wookiee again and worked as a hired thug until she had money enough to get smuggled off of Tatooine and into Alliance territory.

Blaming the Empire for alot of things, including the probable death of her family, Vala joined the Alliance as infantry ending up in Ground Forces, the 121st Special Operations Group, The Rapiers.

Vala would be the short version of her Wookiee name as yet undetermined. Halathea a clan name taken out of respect for something also undetermined to cause her taking it.

Dark Sun Game History

Vala's one and only outing in Dark Sun she and a mismatched group set off across the desert wastes for the city. If the GM had told us what a hellhole this planet was we would have stayed home.

It wasn't long before we met up with raiders and took care of them. Further along we ran into this area of fine sand with some sort of creature or creatures living sarlaac like underneath. The party members started getting sucked under and swathed in some kind of goo that kept one from struggling. Paralysis I think. Being a half-giant Vala's body mass shrugged off the goo faster than most. She dragged herself free and had lost all gear as we all had. She recognized the need for food and water however and being able to take only one before being ensnared again dug out the paralyzed halfling as the lightest to carry. Luckily for the halfling she walked them to the city before the need to eat or drink got too overwhelming.

The pair were enslaved and thrown into gladiator games along with a motley assortment of other thugs. Vala turned out to be a natural and survived till the inevitable slave revolt occurred and she was able to escape.

That was pretty much it for us and Dark Sun.

World Notes:

-- Character played in the Star Wars roleplay group, Cantina Roleplayers Guild .

Shaggy giants from an arboreal world, the tall and commanding Wookiee species is an impressive sight to even the most jaded spacer. Despite their fearsome and savage countenance, Wookiees are intelligent, sophisticated, loyal and trusting. Loyalty and bravery are near-sacred tenets in Wookiee society. When peaceful, Wookiees are tender and gentle. Their tempers, however, are short; when angered, Wookiees can fly into a berserker rage and will not stop until the object of their distemper is sufficiently destroyed.

During the time of the Galactic Republic, the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk was represented in the Galactic Senate by a number of Wookiee potentates. This meant little to the unscrupulous Empire that arose to replace that august government. Despite their proven intelligence, Wookiees were enslaved by the Empire and exploited for their brute strength. Their homeworld was blockaded, and a free Wookiee was a rare sight in the galaxy.

Perhaps the best-known free Wookiee was Chewbacca, loyal co-pilot and friend of famed Corellian smuggler Han Solo. Chewbacca was instrumental in the defeat of the Empire, and the eventual liberation of his people.

Born on Kashyyyk over two centuries before the Battle of Yavin, Chewbacca was a wise, sophisticated being with exceptional skills in starship piloting and repair. For their brutish strength and technological savvy, Wookiees were enslaved by the Empire for use as labor. For a time, Chewbacca was a slave, toiling away for the betterment of the Empire

Early on in their smuggling career, Chewbacca stunned Han Solo by visiting Kashyyyk and marrying a female Wookiee named Mallatobuck. Solo never pegged Chewie as a family man, but Wookiee customs allowed Chewbacca to continue his flying with Han -- protecting him as the Wookiee life debt demanded -- while still being a husband and, eventually, father. Chewbacca's son, Lumpawarrump, was raised mainly by Malla and Chewie's father, Attichitcuk. Chewie continued to fly the spacelanes, avoiding Imperial patrols and smuggling contraband for various clients, but he returned often to Kashyyyk, to celebrate the Wookiee holiday of Life Day.

Wookiees define family differently than most species. To a Wookiee, an "honor family" contains the closest of friends, and Chewbacca swore loyalty to all of them, offering protection even at great personal risk. When Han Solo and Leia Organa married and began to raise their own family, Chewbacca took their children into his honor family, and helped guard and raise the three young Solos.

Kashyyyk

A jungle planet covered with kilometers-high wroshyr trees, Kashyyyk is the homeworld of the fierce but loyal Wookiees. Various ecosystems exist along each layer of the trees, with each level growing progressively more deadly the farther one travels to the planet's surface (dangerous webweavers, for instance, set traps in the lower levels). The Wookiees inhabit the highest levels in huge cities that are naturally supported by the thick tree branches, since wroshyr branches grow together when they meet. One such city, Rwookrrorro, is over a kilometer wide and built on a flat platform of meter-thick spongy material. It features two- to three-story buildings and a landing platform made from the stump of a wide limb. The most prestigious homes are built on the trees themselves, and nursery rings for young Wookiees are built in the tops of the very highest wroshyrs. The kshyy vines that grow among the trees cannot be cut with blasters and are strong enough to support liftcars. Wookiees have easily incorporated modern technology into their society and can accommodate visiting starships, though they sometimes prefer to use archaic items like their traditional quarrel-firing bowcaster. Colored searchlights in the cities help attract native birds called kroyies, a prize food.

Customs of the Wookiee people include the "life debt," where Wookiees feel they must repay the person who has saved their life, and the "honor family," or those people to whom a Wookiee feels a particular bond of friendship. Wookiee adolescents undergo a dangerous rite of passage into adulthood by harvesting silky strands from the heart of the carnivorous syren plant. The Wookiee species was treated as slave labor by the Empire and many were forced to toil on various Imperial construction projects. Many Wookiees still resent humans for the actions of the Empire. Leia Organa Solo hid on Kashyyyk until discovered by a team of Noghri commandos, who made an unsuccessful attempt to capture her. [HTTE, SWS, HSLL, YJK]

Kashyyk is located in Sumitra Sector on the Mid-Rim. Semi-Tropical.

Dark Sun

Dark Sun is a AD&D game set in the 'Dark Sun' world of a dying sun, dying planet. Life is tough.

FoE (Forces of the Empire) is a Star Wars role-playing group set in the ROTJ era more or less. The Emperor survived the Death Star II as did Vader who lapsed back to the Dark Side. The Alliance now controls a swathe of territory and the galactic civil war continues.

The club was begun way way back before the pre-quels and the two Sith rule but otherwise has incorporated much of these additional movies.
