“Dear holy hell, what is that thing?” you would think those words would be snarled or hissed with disgust, but instead had the cooing emotion of one talking to a small child. Eve was bent over the wriggling object in Cy’s arms, making funny faces and prodding the black fuzzbutt.

“It’s a Jracini,” she chirped, stumbling only slightly over the odd name. Chronyc stood from his lounged position on the couch and made his way over. The three had been at Nidus Avengaea for a few weeks now, awaiting the hatching of the infamous Copper Clutch. The canine male sported a frown as he kept his distance from the feline-resembling creature in Cy’s arms.

“Cy, darling, you do realize the clutch hasn’t even hatched yet and you’re collecting babies.”

She spared a glance at Chronyc and plopped herself down on the floor, releasing her new pride, and Eve squealed even louder when neon orange tentacles were revealed to be sported from the small creature’s back, “I’m not collecting. I just couldn’t resist!”

“I’m going to tell everyone here you are not allowed anything that could possibly be deemed pet-able without me as an escort.”

There was suddenly a big-eared fuzzface in his face, staring at him unnervingly with slitted orange eyes.

“How can you tell that face no?” Cy whined, her ears laying back against her head in a pleading way. He snorted out something that sounded like ‘easily’ and Cy’s face took on a hurt look, “Now I remember why I hate you so much,” she sniffed, and passed the Jracini off to Eve, who commenced with the loving.

“What’s her name?” Eve asked. Cy looked momentarily like a deer caught in the headlights.

“Well. Actually. I hadn’t thought of one yet. I think I want to call her… Bad Luck. Can I call her Bad Luck?”

“Is she unlucky?” Chronyc snorted sarcastically as he returned to his couch. Cy pretended to ignore him. Eve looked from the creature to Cy, “If you want to. She’s your pet.”

“Fine. Her name shall be Bad Luck. Want to come with me to get supplies for her?” she asked, holding her hand out. Eve nodded excitedly, and Cy helped her to her feet. The two females left the apartment-style complex, Bad Luck in tow, and Chronyc snorted, “Knowing them, they’ll have another creature when they come back. Stupid chits.”

Sure enough, when Cy and Eve came back, toting bags full of unknown goodies, a small Jracini creature was bouncing about Eve’s ankles. She was a dusky purple in color, with a more mauve purple mane going down her spine, matching the tuft on her tail. She had rounded, pupil-less blue eyes, and seemed quite the happy little thing.

“We couldn’t resist Lavyndar,” Eve stated as she and the feline anthro sat their bags down on the rounded table. Chronyc snorted, “You two aren’t leaving this room without me as an escort from now on.”

Cy and Eve sat down on the floor, in Chronyc’s line of vision, and were both inspecting their Jracini babies. Eve let out a low whistle, and from her room came her other pets. Thing, her little orange blob, and Aisling, her Zalor mutt. Chronyc watched as the two were introduced to the two Jracini, and a watchful eye was kept to make sure the creatures all got along.

“Cy, where are Tenra and Gaz?” Chronyc asked, referring to Cy’s sponsored dragon mutt and her firelizard, respectively. Cy shrugged a shoulder, “Tenra is almost an adult. She’s still at DJ City Dragonry. Galileo is trying to find a useful place for her in the ranks. Gaz is with Astrid. He said he needed to borrow her for awhile.”

“Do you think this clutch is going to hatch soon?” Eve broke in. Cy shrugged her shoulders again.

“It better hatch soon. The less small creatures you two find and grow attached to the better. At this rate, we’re going to be able to fill up dad’s Dragonry in no time at all…” Cy and Eve giggled at Chronyc’s statement. He wasn’t too amused however.
