May I Help You?

A kind gesture or service can
be the best present of all.

The Things You'll Do: Explain to your
May I help you? child that gifts don't have to come in
packages, and that their offers to set the
table or feed the family pet are just as
special and meaningful. Your child can
illustrate whatever service they would
like to do for someone on a piece of con-
struction paper and use it as an "I owe
you" coupon or card. Then, your little
one will have a great time placing these
special coupons around the house. Put it
on a dressor or hide it in one of Dad's
shoes. The surprise will be fun for every-
one. But the best thing about this gift is
that it's something they can do all by
themselves.

What Your Child Will Learn:
• The importance of helping others.
• Art smarts.
• The joy of giving.
• Pre-reading skills. (making cards)
