Preemie Angels

Preemie's are angels sent from above,
Sent early to earth on a mission of love.

They help us remember what life really means.

They remind us of dreams for peace in our life
and bring together husband and wife,
fathers and mothers, sons and daughters.

Leaving in the past any hurts that we have done.

They remind us our touch can be used for good,
To heal a life when nothing else could.

Some angels only come to stay for a while,
to touch our hearts and to make us smile.

They go back to our Father,
their job here is complete.

The world is not the same.

Austyn James Dudley
will remain in our hearts forever.

Remembered for the love he touched all of us with.

Austyn James Dudley was born on August 29, 2004. He was born 3 and a half months early.
He was going good till his last weekend.

On September 4th, Austyn started to bleed from his lungs and my husband Frank asked if he was dying, and the doctor told him she did not know. Me and my husband got ready for the worst that could happen to our little angel Austyn. Me and my husband went back to the Ronald McDonald house and we both started to cry.
A couple that was there started to cry with us and we all started to pray for Austyn.

Sunday the 5th of September, my husband called the NICU and asked the nurse how Austyn was doing, and the doctor there told him he was not doing good. They did an x-ray on his brain and found out that he was bleeding from the brain. He told us to come over so we all can sit down and talk.

So me and my husband went to the hospital, and we all sat down and talked. They told us our son was bleeding real bad in the brain - a class 4 - and that he was having seizures and that he had a hole in his stomach and that he had a collapsed lung. My husband started to cry, and he said that he could not afford to bury our little boy Austyn. He was afraid what was going to happen to him when he passes away. Me and my husband had to do the hardest thing any parents have to do is to make the decision to take our little angel off life support.

My mom called from New Hampshire and said that she will be flying in to Colorado Spring Airport that night. The doctors asked us what we wanted to do... We could do DNR, which means if he passes away let him go, or they could try to save him. We told them to save him, and we will take him off life support on the 6th of September, after we get all of our family there for the rest of his baptism and so they can give him his last rights.

So me and my husband went back to the Ronald McDonald House, and we made the hardest phone call in our lives to tell people that our little boy was dying. So we got a hold of every one, and his dad said not to worry about the funeral that it was taken care of, and my husband started to cry. That night we went back to the hospital and we spent time with our little son Austyn, and then we had to go to the airport
to go and pick up my mother.

The next day, which was the 6th of September, we went to the NICU and we saw our little Austyn, and he was all dressed up for his last day on earth with the people that love him so very much. Frank, his father David, and his brother Jimmy, Sister-in-law Alie, niece Frannie, and his brother's girlfriend Frannie. Our friends Stephanie and Malcolm came to the NICU so we can do his last rights. His other brother David and his mom Micheline could not be there because his mom had gallbladder surgery the week before, and my brother was taking care of his mom, plus David lost a set of twin almost 14 years earlier. His last twin Bobby was a stillborn. We had the nurse there that took care of me when I was in the ambulance going to Colorado Springs Hospital. Her name was Tammy. She was a very good person. I grew close to her in the hospital, and we had the priest there
and the other doctors when he was given his last rights.

Then everyone had a chance to hold Austyn before they took him off life support, and me and my husband went in another room while he was taken off the life support. We both could not watch our little Austyn die, then 24 minutes later our sister-in-law came in, and my husband said it was all over and our little Austyn was gone.

We all held him one last time, and I held him and I gave him to my husband Frank, and he carried him back to the nurse and then we all left and went to eat dinner. I was very worried about the nurse, Nichole, that took care of Austyn. She was very good to him, and she became real good friends with us. The nurses in the NICU were very good with our son. We all went home the next day, and me and Frank went to the funeral home
and picked out a casket for our Austyn and picked out were he was going to be buried.

That night Frank's brother, Gabe, called him from New Hampshire and asked him if he was OK, and he said, yes, and that Austyn will be buried the 14th of September. So on September 14, 2004, Austyn James Dudley was buried, and he went to heaven to be with other people that were waiting for him.

Above are pictures of Austyn's headstone, how sad....

And sadly, Austyn's Aunt Angi recently lost her baby girl Jenessa, who was also born too soon.

Fly
Performed by Celine Dion

Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again

Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem'ry bittersweet
Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don't wait for me
Above the universe you'll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won't forget

Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light

The Broken Chain

We did not know that morning that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
but as GOD calls us one by one,
the CHAIN will link again.
