This is dedicated to the SHS band I knew, and it's former director, Miss Shank.

We've taken the field

and proven our best,

but sometimes we think

we've failed the test.

But we never stayed down,

we climbed even higher,

and though people tried to put us out,

we kept it burning, our fire.

The fire was excellence

and we kept it burning

though at times it was hard,

but we never stopped learning.

We learned that one moment

is all that it takes

and to believe in that moment

despite our mistakes.

And in that moment

we can tast success.

That one moment shows

that we can do our best.

To believe in one moment,

in the power of our dreams,

and to reach for the stars;

to see the fire of excellence

and how it beams.
