Lindsey's Horse & Pony Treats
~Ingredients~
*1 Sliced Apple
*1 Cup of Molases
*A Few Carrots
*Your Horses Usual Oats or Sweet Grain
Slice and peel apple carefully(might want to get parents help!). Mix cup of molasses into the feed and mix it up. Cut the carrots into sliced, and mix with the feed and molasses. Then, slice the apple into smaller pieces and mix it in. You can also add other healthy horsie treats too just the way your horse likes it! I must say, my Appaloosa Moody has to lick my hands clean when I give him this tasty treat! My other Appy, Pokey, has to take a drink of my water from my water bottle to wash down that yummy treat! =)
Apparently there are lots of "Poky" Apps! :^) -Lauren
Winter's Apple and Oatmeal Horse Cookies
~Ingredients~
*2 cups of oatmeal(not flavored, just the oats)
*1 shredded apple (with skin peeled off)
*1 tbsp brown sugar
*1 tsp table salt
*1 tbsp molasses
*3 tpsp water
Preheat oven to 350F. Squeeze desired amount of mixture in palm, so it does not fall apart (the mixture may look dry, so make sure the cookies are pressed together tightly). Place on cookie sheet close together, because they keep their shape. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until browned at the bottom. Cool completely before serving to your horse. These taste great, you might even want to try one yourself! Some ingredients may need to be modified depending on the horse.
Julie's Apple Carrot Muffins
*1 chopped up apple
*1 chopped up carrot
*1 cup dry oatmeal
*2/3 cup flour
*1/3 cup of molasses
*1/2 cup brown sugar
*1/2 cup water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
You can add more oatmeal and flour if you want a thicker consistency. Spoon into a muffin pan and bake for 25-35 minutes. Makes about one dozen muffins.
