Chapter Eleven | ||||
As J threw himself back into his car, defeated, he tossed the unthought of tabloid onto the seat next to him. As he began driving (to no where in particular) he started talking to himself, "It's good she was in a weird mood. What were you thinking anyway? She's not simply your best friend anymore okay? She's not Teresa Dawn, she's Teresa Rae. The Teresa Rae. Do you really think The Teresa Rae would hook up with J Brown?" If anyone had overheard this they'd think J had lost it. He was lecturing himself like a very critical shrink. Pulling up next a tree in the very furtherest stretch of a park, J wondered how he had even gotten to there. He of course knew where he was though. It was a spot Teresa and he had found once and had come back to on occasion. J decided to get out. He glanced at the newspaper Teresa had thrown at him and took it along with him to the bench next to the tree. As he unfolded it, revealing the front page, he moaned just as Teresa had. The more he read, the lower his heart sank. It was no wonder Teresa had been so cross, this tabloid made J sound worse than that jerk Maxamillion really was. He supposed the fact that the tabloid was lying hadn't registered in Teresa's mind. Maxamillion surely would confirm the nice little plot the goss had set up. J sighed as he looked up at the massive tree next to him. The memory of the first time he and Teresa had come here tugged at his heart. "Oohh J stop!" "Why?" "Look at that tree, I want to look at the tree!" "Can't you see it from here?" J asked sarcatically. Teresa took the iniative and slammed her own foot down on the break. "Rease!" Teresa laughed, "Hey, if I say stop-I mean it" The sky was dark and cloudy and the clouds looked threatining. "It's gonna pour, do we really need to go see a tree?" Teresa nodded, smiling. Giving up, J opened his door and as if on cue, rain poured in buckets. He was planning on leaping back into the car and putting the petal to the metal but Teresa was already dancing around the tree. "Teresa! For God's Sake it's RAINING!" Still bounding about Teresa said, "I know! Isn't this great?!?" J shook sighed once again and headed over to where she was. He looked the tree up and down, "We stopped for this? It looks half dead. It's leaning like a slide or something. And look, the leaves are dying" "No J, they're changing colors. It's fall!" Teresa replied as she began to climb the tree. "Yeah, fall. That's exactly what you're gonna do if you don't come down" "Thanks for your concern DADDY!" "Come on Teresa, let's get out of here, I'm soaked!" "If you're already soaked then why does the rain bother you?" Teresa asked logically. Not being able to think of a good comeback J crossed his arms, "Hey J, check me out." Teresa yelled from atop a branch. She was standing on a thick branch fairly high off the ground. "Rease! Geeze you're gonna kill yourself!" Just then a huge clap of thunder sounded and a bright flash zig-zagged through the sky. "Okay now I'm serious. Lightning is attracted to trees" She shrugged and began to try and make her way to the trunk of the tree. "Hm. You're right J this tree is slanted like a slide...interesting" "No, don't even think about it" "Who said I was going-whoa!" with that Teresa slipped and came speeding down the slippery trunk. Automatically, J went to catch her. They both ended up on the ground. Teresa was simply laying there. "Teresa, Oh God, are you okay?" No response. "Teresa?" A low giggle arose from her. Then it was a chuckle, then it bursted into a laugh that would tear your stomach muscles. Soon J was laughing just as hard. Neither of them knows how long they layed there...just laughing... "I gotta get out of here" J said aloud. Levaing the newspaper on the bench, he got back into his car and drove to the first place he could think of... Next Chapter ~> |
