Chapter Ten |
Whitney:I put my hands up to make Teresa stop talking, "Okay okay, could you explain to me why you're going to meet Abs's mum?" She plopped down onto a massive pile of clothes. "I don't know! He asked and I was a bit too confused to ask a lot questions." She sighed, "Abs is picking me up in less than an hour and I haven't even decided on an outfit" I rolled my eyes, "I wonder what Abs is up to?" Teresa shrugged, "You've known him longer" I nodded. "Hey, if he's known you longer, why doesn't he take you to meet his mum?" I gave me a mock-glare, "Maybe because I'm not the one disapearing off to the states!" "I'm not going to disapear.I'll be around" "Around the states. No where near here with me and the lads" I said sadly. "You'll go and forget us all" "I could never forget you guys. Sean, the seemingly quiet but fun guy. J, the drunken goof that hit on me under the influence my first day, Ritchie, your sweetheart, Scott's dance lessons, and Abs odd invitation to meet his mother.." Teresa smiled and added, "And you, the perky girl who doesn't quit" She laughed, "You make me sound like the Little Engine That Could" She giggled, "I think I can I think I can" When our fit of giggles passed I took on a serious tone, "I'll miss ya girl" I felt my eyes get floody as I hugged her, "I'll miss you too" she whispered. I pulled away, "But hey! You've got 2 more days! Just because you sent most of your stuff back to America doesn't mean your happiness should've gone with it!" Teresa's mobile rang, interupting my speech Teresa: I flipped open my phone, "Hello?" "So, are you at the airport yet?" "Jimmy. What the hell do you want? Don't you think you've done enough?" "For shame Teresa. I didn't call to be a menace. I called to make sure you wouldn't miss your flight" "Ha-ha Jim. My flight isn't until Sunday morning. You said so yourself" "Hmm, Did I? Well my deepest apoligies. Your flight leaves in less than an hour" "Very Funny Jimmy" 'Don't believe me eh? Check your ticket." I motioned for Whitney to give me my purse. She tossed it to me and I immediatly dived into it. When I found the ticket I dropped my purse. "Holy shit" I mumbled. I heard Jimmy's cackle as I turned off my phone and frantically started gathering my things. "What the...?" Whitney asked, confused. I hurriedly explained what I had just found out. "That bastard!" she exclaimed. "Tell me about it" I mumbled back. She helped me get my stuff and ran to the door with me. Just as I reached it I smacked my forehead, 'Abs! He'll be here in like, 10 minutes!" She started pushing me out the door, "I'll stay here to tell him what happened, but you've gotta go!" I ran down the hall and called back, "I'll call you! I promise!" She just waved Abs: I knocked on Teresa's door and waited for her to answer, but when the door opened, it was Whitney instead. "Whitney? Where's Teresa?" "At the airport" I held up my hands, "Whoa whoa, what do you mean the airport? I thought she didn't leave until Sunday" She explained everything that happened. "I've gotta go" I muttered as I bolted to my car. She yelled something but it was lost in the sound of my car, speeding to the airport. When I arrived I had no clue where to look. I rushed to the nearest desk, "Excuse me Sir, where's the gate for the next American flight?" I asked the attendent. "Would you like a ticket for the flight?" He asked "No, I just need to know where the gate is" I said quickly. "Well, you can't get on the plane without a ticket sir.." "Just tell me where the gate is!" I said through gritted teeth, straining to keep from yelling. I couldn't draw attention to myself. I had on a hat and sunglasses to avoid fans but yelling loudly was bound to attract attention. The attendent gave me a number and I went off to find it. When I found it I immediatly sought out Teresa in the crowd. I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around, "Abs! I'm so sorry that I couldn't come I just-" "No, it's okay." "What in the world are you doing here?" "Well, first off, to tell you you'll be missed. You don't belong in the states" "I don't belong anywhere. I've got no family ties and my job sure isn't secure-" "No, You belong here. With your family" She stared at me, "What are you talking about?" I reached into my pocket and handed her a picture. It was taped down the middle. One half I had found at Teresa's house, and I owned the other. She gasped, "How did you..is that?" I nodded, "That's me and you. With our dad. He left me and my mum pretty early on and stopped visiting. Once or twice your mother sent me pictures of you behind dad's back. He didn't ever want us to know of eachother according to your mum. The last picture I received of you was when you were about 12. I knew you looked familiar that first day" She didn't say anything. She was smiling and a few tears rolled down her cheeks. I wrapped her in a hug, "You've got a family. Right here" |
