Chapter Four |
Teresa: I found my seat on the plane. Right in the middle of a big family. "Mommy! I want to sit next to Ann! She's MY friend! I brought her! She should sit next to me!" A little girl who was latched on to another little girl squealed at her mother. I looked to my right, looks like the dad and a son. I looked to my left, looks like the mom, her daughter and her daughter's friend. "Erm, excuse me" I said, tapping the man to my right on the shoulder, "Are you with them?" I pointed to the mother on the other side of me. He nodded, "Yes, that's my wife." "Well this is stupid. Why am I right here? would you like to trade seats? I believe there's an empty one in this row also, in case you have someone else coming" "That would be great, thank you so much" he said as we all stood up to exchange seats. As I sat down the pilot's voice boomed overhead, "Please fasten your seatbelts, we're ready for takeoff" I reached into my purse to get some gum and ran into a picture. I pulled it out and found it was a picture from a photobooth with me and my mum. I glanced over at the sickenly happy family. My gaze went back to the picture. Suddenly my mum's words played in my mind "you're not alone..." It was just like my mom to say optimistic crap like that. "Well guess what mom?" I muttered to the picture. "I am alone. No family. No friends. I've been transferred to England and not a soul cares." I woke up about 5 minutes before we landed. Most of the passangers were just awakening also. I was very happy when we fianlly landed. I was exhausted. I stepped off the plane and looked around. I didn't even know what i was looking for. What did I expect? A big neon sign that said "HEY UNWANTED AMERICAN! YEAH YOU! OVER HERE!"? All Jimmy had told me was that someone would be here. I scanned the crowd and was surprised to see someone walking towards me, "Are you Teresa?" he asked politely. "Yes, um, who are you?" "I work for Five. I'm a driver, I was sent to pick you up" Oh good, I wasn't stranded. "Oh, well just let me get my bags then" The gentleman was nice enough to carry my bags and load them into the car. I was surprised when the car he had loaded my suitcases into was a limo, "A limo? Are you sure you have the right Teresa?" He laughed, "Well how many American Teresas would come to work for Five?" I shrugged, "Not too many I guess..." As we started to drive I realized I didn't know where I was being taken. "Uh, Sir?" "Call me Jake" "Okay um, Jake, where are we going?" "Well to meet the lads of course!" The lads? "You mean, Five?" "Well do you know anyone else in England?" Scott: "Alright guys, I just got a call from Jake. He's on his way with that new addition to the Five staff. She should be here in less then 5 minutes." our manager anounced. I decided to joke a bit, "Aw, another frumpy old employee? He's not going to be old, balding and boring is he?" "I think you mean she and I've only just turned 21, I should hope I'm not balding and I'll try my best not to bore you" I turned to see who the new voice belonged too. In the doorway stood a dark haired, dark eyed girl. Despite her sarcastic joking, her eyes seem to give away that she wasn't very happy. I heard the guys laughing at her remarks. "You must be Teresa. Go on lads, introduce yourselves" our manager urged. I walked up and gave her a smile, "Hello Teresa, I'm Scott" she smiled in return, "Nice to meet you Scott. I hope I'm not too frumpy for ya. I'm just wearing comfy clothes and I'm a bit jet-lagged" "Oh no! No, no. You're fine, I mean, you look alright. Well um, I know what it's like to be jet-lagged" Oh, smooth Scott. She just laughed. Teresa: After Scott I met J, Sean, and Ritchie. Then a girl walked up, "Hey. I'm Whitney" I gave her a confused look, "Are you the fifth in this group?" she laughed, "No, no. I'm their stylist. Oh and that guy you just met,Ritchie? That's my guy" she smiled. Everyone has someone I thought to myself. "Well if you're not the fifth than who is?" she stepped out of the way to reveal another guy. He seemed to be staring at me but quickly recovered, "That would be me. I'm Abs" "Hey Abs. I'm guessing you know I'm Teresa..." "Have we met before?" he asked suddenly. Whitney smacked his shoulder, "Real original pick-up line there Abidin" I held back a laugh, "Sorry, I've never been to England before in my life. But hmm..your name sounds familiar." I laughed. Probably a workout video. "It's a nice name" he smiled and I added, "Who knows, maybe we knew eachother in another life" Chapter Five... |
