From: DONCaudill@aol.com Add to Address Book Date: Wed, 3 Mar 2004 17:09:36 EST Subject: Sarah A. Harwood Payne To: Dancharthos@yahoo.com Attached is a copy of a tintype from my family album. The tintype is of Sarah A. Harwood and it was sent to my Great-great grandmother Mary Ward Teter Harwood by one of Sarah's brothers (John Harwood) with the notation "to Molly Harwood from John Harwood." Mary was Sarah's step grandmother. Sarah's father, Nathan Thomas Harwood, was the son of Benjamin and Anne Harris Harwood who were early pioneers in Ross County, Ohio. Anne died and Benjamin married, in 1825, Mary Ward Teter, who was a widow of Mathias Teter. Mary had four children by her first husband and Benjamin and Mary had seven children. Nathan Thomas and Mary Tower Harwood went West between 1845 and 1849 and settled in Washington Twp., Van Buren County Iowa. Later a half brother Benjamin Franklin Harwood also moved from Scioto County first to Illinois and then to Sac County, Iowa. I have been looking for descendants of Benjamin Harwood in hopes that one may have a clue to his parents. I hope this is of interest to you. *******************************************************8 Charles Elphry Payne - b. 1879 Van Buren Co., IA d. 1947 San Diego, California Son of Lewis Cass Payne b. abt 1849 in Ohio and Sarah A. Pelfrey's Sister Letha Pelfry Beuchler To: Dancharthos@yahoo.com This looks like Mary Oletha Payne, sister of Charles Elfrey Payne. This copy does not have the date of her birth or death. Also the volunteer who entered the information has Beuchler and Beauchler. The second spelling is probably incorrect since Beuchler is entered more than once in the body. I note that you have Bughler in your entry. The second obituary is of Lewis C. Payne's second wife, Hannah Pender. Hope that this is info new to you.
