Dancharthos : Poems : Washingtown 1974-1976

T i t a n i c

ships listed in disastrous night
on the dark luxury roster
I saw my sinking liner going down
before an iceberg of nostalgic power

strangely enough as the waters lapped nearer
my kneeling pants were scarcely soiled

some prophet had swept the decks

oh God I prayed torpedoes died
the world turned and I heard its
whispered fantask

all this must pass

I saw nothing yet what I wrote .
