Yesterday C. L. had her first meeting with the sheep. First we had to go by car for more than an hour and she didn`t like it. The sheep were fenced in a pasture. First she met her teachers, Kristin a bordercollie trainer and Amy a six year old BC. I tried to explain to Kristin, that I just wanted to see if there are some working abilities in CL how she acts with the sheep, and that I donīt want her to copy the kind of working the BC, like laying down, stearing at the sheep. And so we let her go.
She tried to copy the BC, running over to the sheep and move them, only if Amy layed down she looked very uncomprehendingly and wanted to return to me. But when Amy got up again she run with her again.
During that afternoon she had two highlights and I would like to know if that is instinct or what.
1. once she alone (without Amy) moved the sheep along the fence, then she overtook them and stopped them on her own.
2. when Amy began to circle the sheep, she went clockwise. CL had a short look on her and went against the clock.
Iīm so proud about her. And so it is easy for me to excuse, that she reeats her breakfast during our way home.
