Rollin’ Over Brian May of Queen went ahead and released a solo album after the tragic loss of his former bands front man, and you know what? It might be my favourite “Queen”-album. The highpoints are not as high as the ones on the Queen albums, but the low points are nowhere near the worst Queen songs. It’s more even and concrete. You won’t find any Bohemian Rhapsody here, this is not about making serious music. This is for fun only. Brian is a good singer. Really. Sure, you can’t compare him to Freddie, but why should you? He has a reputation of being one of the best in the business. The rest sounds like Queen, though. Multi layered guitars, great vocal harmonizing and good melodies. And most important, the hairstyle is still the same! The lyrics might not be the greatest and most profound out there, but the melodies, harmonies and arrangements makes up for that. Easily. If you, like me, really like Queen albums like innuendo and The Works, you can’t go wrong with this one. Oh, by the way... Mr May is one hell of a guitarist. Just thought I’d let you know.
