OSCAR - Our New Boy!

25 May 1999 - Oscar's been with us about 4 1/2 months now. He's so part of the family now that it seems like he's been here forever! . Physically, he's improved quite a bit. He's now weighing about 32kg with an excellent bill of health. Oscar is no longer that picky with his food. He awaits each meal nearly as eagerly as that glutton, Janus. The raw bones and vegetables did him well. He no longer has a strong body odour and mushy, volumous stools. His body took quite a while (a month or two) detoxifying itself, but he's over all that now! We also received good news from our vet last night that Oscar's Distemper and Parvo titres came back positive, thus he doesn't need to have his vaccination boosters for now. Great because we are against unnecessary vaccinations and this is a testament to his good health!
Shumin has taken the job of training and handling Oscar in obedience. Being so different from Janus in temperament, he offers a whole new set of challenges. However, they are progressing really well. After only a short time, Shumin and Oscar have won a ribbon for coming in second at a ribbon parade in Elementary level and then a championship ribbon for fifth in Special Beginners. Oscar's a smart cookie, but not quite as motivated to work as Janus.
