moving fast. like a snake. night sky.
walking forward. slow with caution. no one near.

turning right. lights play on me. blinding light.
a quiet noise. such a small noise. in the corner.
i reach for something. something painful. defensive prey.

going forth. into the darkness. eye for an eye.
hello. no response. uncertainty.
by the door. fallen chair. they're running.

i chase. dart across the room. skidding after.
they run. slam into the door. shaking handle frantically.
I close in. see their face. my weapon falls.

loosing blood. against pale skin. silhouette.
the windows light. against my shocked face. prey after all.
they turn. enter the darkness. become a silhouette, dissappear.
