Dark Places

Lurking in the shadows
keeping out of sight,
they wait to pounce
and cause you fright.
 

They follow you around
you know that they're near,
but you cannot see them
as they stir up your fear.
 

Approaching in the night
when there's nobody about,
their sole intention
is to make you cry out.
 

While you're asleep
waiting to dream,
they creep 'round your bed
to make you scream.
 

So when you are alone
and your heartbeat races,
it's because of these things
that lurk in dark places.
