Consciousness
A theory by
Miranda Thomas, 2001
I believe that at any time and in any given situation in your life, you are in communication with your self. Let's say for instance, you're involved in something you know you should not be doing. In this situation, your conscious would be telling you it was wrong. Here is my theory on what a conscious is:
Whenever your conscious tells you something is wrong,
OR right for that matter, it is your future self warning you about things
it has already experienced. Have you ever walked by the playground
of the school you used to attend and memories came rushing back?
You could almost see ghosts of yourself playing on the swings? And
you think to yourself, 'enjoy it... it goes so quick'. That, would
be your conscious. You would be the 'future self' in that situation
warning the 'child you' to enjoy your youth. And even in a bad situation
where you think 'I really shouldn't be doing this.' That thought
comes from some form of your future self that knows something bad will
come of it.
Every person has a present, a future and a past.
These timelines run parallel to each other. Even though you may have
experienced bad consequences to an action taken as a child, if you ever
think, 'I wish I hadn't done that', then you are warning yourself of what
is to come and perhaps the you that is still in the 'past' will listen
to it's conscious and not have to deal with those consequences. In
this way you change your own past and the you still in it lives a better
life. If this cycle is kept up, eventually one part of you will live
a perfect life. Which is how we reach the equivalent of 'heaven'.
