Return to The Fountain of Knowledge

God, Life, and the Universe

A theory by
Mark D. Holt, 2001

Introduction.

I'll start by saying that I don't believe in God.  At least, not God as a big, bearded man, dressed in white robes and sitting up in the clouds, surrounded by harp-playing angels.  I'd like to think of God more as an energy force; a giant cloud of energy that covers all things and spans a multitude of dimensions.
This theory has been formulated over the years by the numerous thoughts and ideas I have had, and while the concept is clear to me in my own mind, it isn't so easy to put it into words, but I will try to do my best.  So here it goes:

What is God?

To start with, I had best clarify exactly what God is (according to this theory).  From this point on, I will refer to God as a 'divine energy', as I feel that this description is more appropriate.
This cloud of energy can't be seen or touched, but it is everywhere; all around us, and in everything we build.  It occupies not only the physical dimension that we can see and touch, but also the mental dimension where our minds dwell.
The easiest way to describe the divine energy would be to compare it to a mass of atoms.  As we already know, all things are composed of atoms.

Life and creation.

All things are created from the divine energy; living creatures such as ourselves, insects, trees, plants, and even micro-organisms like bacteria; minerals and metals; man-made objects like cars, TV sets, computers; everything composed of matter is composed of divine energy.  Each time a new life is conceived, or new matter is formed, a piece of the divine energy cloud breaks away to provide it with substance.
In the case of living creatures, we also have to consider the mind and soul.  Within this theory, I assume the mind to exist in a separate dimension from our bodies (the aforementioned mental dimension), but still composed of the same divine energy (as I mentioned earlier, the divine energy spans the dimensions).
Because our minds and bodies are composed of the same divine energy, they are linked to each other in their respective dimensions, but it may be possible for our minds to become separated from our bodies (more about this later).  So wherever our body goes in the physical dimension, our mind follows in the mental dimension.
Now we come to the soul.  It all really depends upon your definition of the soul.  I believe the soul to be the energy force that drives our physical bodies; the spark that we call life.  As with the mind, the soul is another aspect of the divine energy, though this aspect resides within our body as opposed to another dimension.

Death and destruction.

As divine energy breaks away from the cloud to form new life and matter, it returns again once that life is over, or the matter destroyed.
When a body dies, the divine energy that comprised their mind and soul returns to the mass of the cloud.  All that remains is the energy that provided the substance for the physical body itself.  As that body disintegrates (either through cremation, decomposition, or other means) that divine energy also returns to the cloud.

Good and Evil.

The divine energy cloud is neither good nor evil, but rather both.  Imagine taking a bag of red sand and a bag of blue sand, and then tipping them both into the same container.  To start with the two colours would still be separate.  When you reach in and remove a handful, you would probably have either one colour or the other, but then you pour it back in again and the sands begin to mix.  After a while it would become more and more difficult remove a handful of sand that is all one colour, but still possible.
This same example can be used to describe the divine energy cloud.  The energy used to create new life and matter will be a mixture of positive (good) and negative (evil).  While most people will be a balanced mixture of the two, some will be more good, and others will be more evil.  This would explain why some people are more predisposed to commit acts of good, and others acts of evil.

Memories of a past life.

Throughout your life, the divine energy within you gathers information - your memories.  When you die, the divine energy rejoins the divine cloud, and your memories become a part of that.  To start with, the divine energy that was you, remains in together, but as time goes on, the your energy disperses and mixes with the rest of the cloud.
When a new life is formed, it is possible that some, or most, of the divine energy used to create it has been together before.  This would explain a person having memories of a past life, or experiencing deja vu. And if all of the energy had been together before, then that could be viewed as reincarnation.

Luck and misfortune.

As mentioned earlier, the divine energy cloud is made up of both positive and negative energy.  People who are seen as lucky, and I don't mean those who may have survived  near-fatal accidents, I mean life's winners, people who are seem to get all the luck.  Whether it's winning money and competitions, or getting the best jobs, some people just seem to attract good luck, while others seem destined to be life's losers.  This could be attributed to the amount of positive (good) or negative (evil) energy within them  A person with a lot of positive energy is lucky, while a person with a lot of negative energy is unlucky.
This same theory can be applied to objects and places.  A lucky object, such as a good-luck charm, may be composed of a lot of positive energy, and unlucky objects the opposite.
Many believe in hot spots - locations around the world that are classed as either lucky or unlucky.  An area where a lot of accidents happen could be viewed as being an unlucky hot spot, whereas a very prosperous area might be a lucky hot spot.

Ghosts and spirits.

Normally, when your physical body dies, the divine energy that makes up your mind and soul returns to the divine cloud.  But this isn't always the case.  Sometimes, for reasons unknown, the divine energy that forms the soul will remain on Earth, anchored to its physical body or some place that was important to it during life, and because this energy exists in the physical dimension it may also have the ability to effect other objects, and even manifest itself as an image of its former self.

Supernatural, psychic, or paranormal powers.

As I have already mentioned, our mind resides in the mental dimension while our body and soul reside in the physical dimension, so therefore, as a single entity (comprising mind, body, and soul) we actually exist in two separate dimensions.
In the mental dimension there are no physical barriers to contain the divine energy of our minds.  If we were able to gain the knowledge needed to separate our mind from our body and soul, it would be able to travel freely in the mental dimension.
This ability could allow us to affect other minds, or even push them aside and take control of their bodies (mind control).  If two minds were in close vicinity it may be possible for them to communicate with each other mentally (telepathy).

A few closing words.

So there you have it!  My theory on God, Life, and the Universe!  I know that there are many things that I have missed out, such as genetics, mental illness, disability, and countless other subjects.  There are many things that I could have incorporated into this theory, but it was never intended to explain every detail our existence, rather it is to serve as an introduction to the concept of divine energy and how it works, the rest is up to you.  If nothing else, I hope that this theory has opened your mind to other possibilities.
I should also add that this is only a theory, and not necessarily what I believe.  I have other theories about some of the issues raised in this document which differ from those described here.  I suppose that, if I sat down and gave them enough thought, I could adapt my other theories to fit with this one, but for now I shall leave things as they are.
