PLOT: A famous film director holds auditions for "extras" in a new movie starring his wife and her sister. When a murder takes place, a star-struck young security guard takes charge of the investigation. A murder mystery comedy.

HISTORY: With "Pirates of Pink Pants", "Marriage Can Be Murder", and "Golden Age of Radio" still in production, I attended both auditions for "Audition for Murder", directed by Jane, my "Pirates" co-star. My initial intent was solely to support my fiancee Cindy, who hadn't been in a standard play since eighth grade (though she had done "Rocky Horror Picture Show" with me back in college). But by the second audition, I decided that I would have time to devote to the show, if I were needed. As it turns out, we were both cast. Cindy landed the walk-on role of Louise (originally listed as "Richard" in the script, but given a gender change for Cindy's sake), and I was cast as the jilted drunkard Joe.
Playing alongside me in this show were fellow "Pirates" Jeff, Amanda, Bob, and Felisha. Co-starring with me for the first time was Jean, who'd been in two other MSI shows since 2004. Although Christopher Lowe had been cast as David, his work schedule forced him into leaving the cast after two weeks' rehearsal. Bill Young (my co-star in "Run For Your Wife" and the two recent "Golden Age of Radio" shows) was brought in to fill the role.
Because our intended opening night fell on the Good Friday holiday, there were very few reservations made for our April 14 show. By mid-Friday, that night's performance was officially cancelled (though most of the cast had a sit-down runthrough of lines that evening, over dinner at Sorge's). So instead, the following Friday, April 21, would become our real "opening night". By the fifth and final show, we were performing to sold-out crowds.
Members of the cast made Good Friday appearances for Route 81 radio, on WCLI AM and Magic FM in Corning, to promote the show, and Route 81 also produced ads that aired on several stations before and during the run of the show. We also appeared on Wink 106 FM on April 27.
