As the world has become globalized, English skill became the most essential and basic skill. English is not an optional skill but the essential skill to survive in the global community. However, because most Korean students are not experienced in English-only classes, it would be very risky to have all English classes for college student. To make sure that they have learned the knowledge related to their major, English-only courses should be deeply reconsidered. People in Korea do not deny that English education and English skill for Korean student are remarkably important. However, university is the school that teaches expert knowledge about student¡¯s major, not an English academy. There might be certain student who will work at the global community later, but they still should be well aware of the contents of their study. The major courses usually include materials that are serious and difficult to understand. Even though, professors and students are very brilliant and smart, the course materials are hard to fully understand even in Korean. If the English only classes are hard to avoid, universities should partially have English courses towards some seniors who got certain grade. Also, most of Korean students have not had English-only classes during their middle and high schools. This means that their English ability is not qualified for taking the college level course in English. Even though the professor use easy vocabulary and try to explain in easy English, students would not fully understand the class. Some jokes or metaphorical expressions make students harder to understand, because English is not their mother language. In actual, many college students who took the English-only courses complained about the understandings of the class. Because of these misunderstandings, many people also say that the English only courses are not very effective.
