On Feb 2nd, 3rd and 4th or 2008 Harry and I attended the Star Trek Tour in Long Beach. This is a Star Trek Exhibition Tour that will run for five years and cover forty cities. We were lucky enough to be the first stop in the tour. Harry and I are both huge Star Trek fans and knew this was going to be a once in a lifetime event so we got some really good VIP tickets. We purchased the Captain's Package. This package included attending the tour on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Also included a Photo of us on the Bridge (TOS or TNG), Front of Line Pass to the Shuttle Simulator, U Star in Video, and Audio Tour. Along with all those goodies we got a VIP badge and a really cool Messenger Bag with the Star Trek Tour Logo. With all those extras and the fact that we love Star Trek it was a no brainier that we would pay the extra money and get these tickets. |
The Tour was located in Long Beach at the Queen Mary. It was in the huge dome that once housed the Spruce Goose. |

We were so excited when we got there. We have been waiting a few months since the announced it and we got our tickets. First of all they are playing all sorts of Star Trek Music on the outside of the Dome. So as you are walking to the Dome they are putting you in the mood with some great music. As soon as you enter the tour there is a display of props on your right. Kind of gives you a taste of what to expect (below). |

You then go through a second set of doors and immediately you are on sensory overload.. My heart started to race as I looked left and right trying to take it all in. And this is only the entrance. There are several large video screens playing Trek episodes, music is playing, on your right is a huge (about ten feet tall) Saucer Section of the Enterprise D that crashed. It is amazing... |

As you turn from the large saucer section there is a ton of Star Trekkie neon lights all over the place. The entrance is just ahead but first there are two displays of actual models from all the series and movies. And in the middle is a large (ten to twelve feet) rotating Enterprise A model... it's really beautiful. |
