CHAPTER ELEVEN

Grammi:

Has it been a month already ...? My grandmother died last week. She was 97. She lived a long life that included being married before World War I .... She was in her 20's in the 1920's and in her 40's in the 1940's.( go figure) She turned 60 right before Kennedy was shot. She has children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and great., great grandchildren and she's came very close to getting great, great, great grandchildren. She outlived 3 of her 6 children which must have been hard on her more then I could know. One of her children died of old age. She had memories of every decade of the last Century ... and she still had her mind in the new millennium. What went wrong was the body ... a body can only last so long . And hers' lasted 97 years. She didn't suffer long, just a few short days. She had prepared all of us years ago. She outlived her last husband by 31 years. She had it all taken care of.
Grammi died last week .. it's sad ... but saying it was tragic, would be losing sight of how wonderful and long her life was. You can't have life without death ... not in this world. It's simply a case of knowing when you're done. She was done.

Today my work will reshape the world we live in ...and the world is a little emptier
I'm not afraid ... Are you ?
