Sendai is about 300 kilometers (180 miles) north of Tokyo on the Pacific coast of the main island of Honshu (the largest of Japan's four major islands). It takes 2 hours from Tokyo to Sendai by shinkansen ("bullet train"). In addition there is an international airport and harbour.
