CREATING
QUESTIONS
Before you can begin your research project, you will need to create a list
of questions you want to answer. The best questions begin with question words:
Who, what, when, where, why, how.
Questions
that can be answered with a “yes “ or “no” do not
add much to your information, although sometimes they are helpful. Some sample
questions are given below to help you get started.
1. What is the most important aspect of your subject, in your opinion?
Why?
2. How might this have happened?
3. What are its effects? (on people, the environment, the future...)
4. Where did this begin or take place? When?
5. What do you think should be done?
6. How do other people feel about your subject?
7. Has it changed? If so, how?
8. Will it change in the future? If so, how?
9. What evidence did you find about your subject?
10. What parts or functions does it have?
11. How would you improve/change it?
12. How would things be if it didn’t exist?
13. How could you compare it to _________?
14. Why did you want to research this subject?
15. Is it useful? If so, how?
16. What is _____________? (Define and explain.)
17. What other subjects is it related to?
18. What would you do if____?
