EXPECTATIONS FOR GROUP WORK

Groups will be graded on how well and efficiently they work together. Groups where the work load is not evenly balanced or where people are not getting along will lose points along the way. Therefore, it is important that groups plan out each block period, assigning tasks for each group member.

There must be fieldwork done outside the school. The group should have evidence of that fieldwork, in photographs or video. Because much of your work will take place in the community, be sure that at least one group member is fluent in the local language.

Students are not expected to create a budget or to spend undue amounts of money. They are, however, expected to spend time on this project.

Students should come prepared to block with materials that they will use for that day. They should leave materials in their advisor's class so that other group members can work, even when one of the group is absent. An absent group member does not constitute a good reason for the group not to do work in block.

Deadlines are very closely set together so that school time can be maximized. Therefore, it is essential that groups use school time effectively and not waste it socializing.

Students are expected to ask questions of their advisors and other teachers. We will help to the best of our ability. Students should also maximize the use of their mentors.

Students are expected to observe all rules regarding plagiarism. All sources should be cited in MLA format.
